➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I try to butcher around 8-10 weeks, when they get to about 4-5 pounds live weight. Those are "fryers" and can be made into most any recipe. Pretty much anything you can do with chicken you can substitute rabbit. Barbequed rabbit is delicious. Once the rabbits get older/bigger they start getting tougher and you have to be more careful how you cook them, similar to how an older chicken is not as easy to cook.

Why are you still online missy? Aren't you on east coast time?? Go to bed! It's past 11 here in CA.

:lau

Cause I got on here. :lau

Seriously, been in bed like over an hour haha

But I’m about to pass out, had a long day today so I’m exhausted and going to force myself to put my phone down in a sec.

You are nuts, you are gonna be dragging tomorrow.

I need to go to bed, have to be up in about 7ish hours. Nighty night all!

Same time here lol

Normally I wouldn’t even be tired at this hour and/or would just sleep later to compensate but tonight I am exhausted and can barely keep my eyes open. :lau

Goodnight :)

:lau yeah, we might get in trouble with that one. :lau

And yeah, I think some people just want a nice, cute cuddly pet which they totally fit the bill haha

I do eventually want them but I think a lot of people think ferrets smell or look like rats and won’t get them and actual rats... well... people still hate them and don’t realize what amazing pets they can be. :(
To be fair, they DO smell. :gig
But I like the ferret smell. same way I like sweaty horse smell or wet dog.
Perhaps it's an acquired taste, or maybe the fumes are getting to my head.

Same thing with reptiles... People are disgusted by them. Mom my absolutely hates them. I hold mine daily and they're awesome.
Everyone who visits our home loves IV. So far no one has been scared of her or made any nasty comments.
Unlike when I owned rats. People will not hesitate for a second to tell you how "disgusting," "ugly," or "repulsive" your pet rats are, without provocation... to your face!

Mmm barbecued rabbit sounds incredible.
To my knowledge, I've only had rabbit in a stew.
Yes, yes the only Miss Cooper is Tad herself. I am merely her devoted servant.
Oh my gosh, Tad is a Mini Cooper.

Soooo cute :love

Those sharks I got are doing awesome in our tank. I have so many animals... I didn't see the store manager when I went to Petco last night so I'll go back again sometime to drop off my number.

Groot refused to eat live feed tonight. He's really being a little pain :barnieHusbanf told me he will eventually eat sometime. I think he sneaks his salad when I'm not looking

They can go quite awhile without eating if they want and be just fine. Tad was uninterested food for a few days after we first got her. I think it is a normal response to the stress of relocation. Or he is just being picky lol. Either way, he will settle in and start eating soon, I am sure.

I asked Petco if they ever carry feeder roaches and they said they don't... Bet they'd make a lot of money if they sold them. I cringe when people buy crickets. They're so :sick

The local mom and pop store we bought Tad from sells roaches, but they are really expensive and they only have small ones. A tech at the exotic animal vet we go to told us about Dubi deli and we haven’t looked back since.

I think crickets are smelly. That's why I like the roaches, everyone says they have no smell at all.

I dislike mealworms too, but that's all they had. Groot wasn't interested in them so I told him we would try again tomorrow. I ordered him 3 different sized roaches and whatever he doesn't eat Gamora (Bob) will.

No smell, no noise, and they are easier to keep alive too. We hardly have any die off from our roaches, even after a couple months.

Oh my gosh, Tad is a Mini Cooper.
Ya know, I always wanted one of those!

:lau as much as I love animals, I hate smelly animals. :lau

Never really smelled a sweaty horse and probably wouldn’t mind that but can’t stand wet dog and our house smells like a barn right now and I hate it. :lau doing a deep clean tomorrow lol

And aww I would probably love IV! She seems cool. Beardies seem awesome. But yeah, I don’t know why people hate rats so much or why they feel the need to tell you all about how much they hate them directly to your face. :(

I personally don’t really like insects, I’m terrified of most of them, and honestly I don’t really understand why people keep them as pets, I genuinely don’t get it and I won’t deny that, but I would never ever, tell that to someone that has one or say that their pet is ugly or creepy or anything like that. I actually don’t even think that, I think some of them are really cool looking and can be really pretty; they just scare me. :lau

I am terrified of spiders, scorpions, roaches, etc. and praying mantises especially are terrifying, but I know that these are pets to some people and they mean just as much to them as my dog, cat, chicken, whatever and I think that’s really cool. Some people don’t get how chickens can be pets either and that’s fine with me as long as they aren’t rude about it.

But most people are just so rude about unusual pets! I’ve heard horror stories of people threatening to squish/kill the pet, etc. and even one that they actually did it. :(

That’s just such disgusting behavior to me.

It might be ugly or weird or creepy to you but it’s someone’s beloved pet and I don’t get why being rude is acceptable. You would never go up to someone and say your dog is really ugly and creepy and I hate dogs and wish I could shoot him or “hey, your kid is super ugly” (at least I hope not :lau  ) so why is it acceptable for unique/exotic/different pets!?

And hopefully it’s obvious but the you in my post is a generic “you”, know we probably feel the same way on this haha

And sorry for the rant/tangent haha just makes me mad.
