Amazing. This is my boy Natasha. He's incredibly well mannered. I use him at fairs as a display bird because he'll simply perch on my hand and let people pet him. I don't generally make pets out of roosters, but if I'm going to do it, I'm doing it with an OEGB. They're intelligent enough to walk the "line" of comfort without overt familiarity.View attachment 1994515

That helps settle it. Definitely getting an OEGB cockerel. Might wait till next year though so there are adult hens present to help teach him manners

He doesn't really have one. He's nonstandard with strong SDW influence. His father is a SDW x BBR, I think, but he looks pure SDW. I'm not actually sure who his mother is. One of my other mixed hens, or maybe Jace, though she tended to throw some spangling.

SDW is silver duck wing right? I think purely poultry has sexed SDW OEGB I really like his looks a lot.

Man. Maybe I shouldn’t keep any of my standard cockerels then and should just sell them all and get an OEGB one and more chicks in the spring.

Cackle has soooo many bantams OMG. They have just about every color of OEGB and standard Old English too.

Not all of them come sexed though. While I have had good luck selling/giving away males in the past, I prefer to buy sexed chicks whenever possible. Then I only have to worry about the occasional oops cockerel.

I’m really liking the Silver Duckwing (and Gold but especially Silver) and the Crele. also.... I don’t think the OEGB come in this color but I noticed it when I was looking at all the bantams and.... I need some birchen birds at some point or at least a birchen roo.

That makes sense! Didn’t think about that. But I think some of the varieties are available sexed. they’re more expensive but might be worth it. I haven’t checked to see which varieties are available sexed.
