➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I raised them for a while they can be mean mean

Black Rosecomb Bantam remind me of my Minorca. Although the Rosecomb have bigger ear lobes.

I have a total of 27 Bantams of various varieties. Over the years I have had many colors in each variety. Loved my Blue Rosecomb males...the iridescence in their quarter sized earlobes was stunning. Personality has a lot to do with how much they are handled.

My d'Anvers were flighty and my cock was an ankle biter...would jump on my foot and challenge me. Had to soak him with the water hose on a regular basis.

OEGB are gentle and sweet. Had one young cockerel that loved to ride on my shoulder when I did chores.

Most banty hens are masters at hiding their nests and disappearing until their chicks hatch. No matter how vigilant the little mothers are, without human intervention, many tiny baby banty chicks succumb to many perils...rats, mice, snakes, small birds of prey, improper sized feeders and water containers and even the size of their feed. You will need 1/2" X 1" hardware wire. Those bitty babies go right thru 1" X 1" wire cages.

Also it would make more sense knowing the context. He’s the inappropriate one here or at least we joke about that a lot so that’s what he was implying he was shipping/joking about.
And once again you are wrong. I was not implying anything about what I ship. When I ship something to someone, I do not charge them for the shipping, nor do I charge them for what I am shipping to them. And I do not make illegal shipments.

On a change of note...

If I build a coop for just the turkeys will they go to it to roost or would they likely go where the other birds go to roost, or shoot for the trees & not go to the coop at all? In your experience?

They will do what you train them to do as long as the coop is big and tall enough. They do have to be trained. They do like high places to roost. Once mine are big enough to not be in danger of being owl food, they roost outside.

Already posted this but oh well

Love her tail!

Looks like some of my mom and grandmother's stash of craft books.

Shoot.
It's getting hard now.
The Little loops are coming off of the frame thing.

And some of these bands are really tight and some are really loose. :barnie

Ok... I figured it out now what do I do with this very last one?View attachment 1996909
1) Do you have any extra loops in the bag? Cut one in half or quarter it. Slip one end thru the loop on your hook. Use a needle and thread to stitch the ends together Now you have a ring to hang up your hot pad.
2) use a needle and thread and anchor the loop to the edge of the hot pad.
3) sew a button to the last loop.

My chicken coop is "full" of chickens, I'm sure the turkeys would need a lot more space than what a chicken can squeeze into! I've got space to make them their own designated space. I got to build new duck pens as well.

Thanks for the info Nana! :bow Looks like I will be making some modifications to my run in the spring

@FortCluck I am sorry for raising the specter of biosecurity earlier and I hope I did not make you feel attacked or unwelcome. I admit I can be a bit paranoid about disease. But I also acknowledge that all methods of obtaining birds have pros and cons. There is no perfect answer. All we can do is weigh the options and do what we think is best. The swap you described sounds like a great community.
