➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Look at a place like Tyson... Very well known and what happens behind the scenes is quite disgusting. I'll never buy their chicken... EVER

Hmm that’s true but I feel like that’s a completely different topic though. All factory farmed meat, chicken or not, is cruel and shouldn’t be supported. Do agree there. But I was talking about just regular hatcheries. Like ones that sell to the public. If they sold sick chicks to people, they would go out of business. Factory farms are totally different and don’t sell live animals to the public. And they don’t care about losses. Just money. Egg farms are the same way even if they claim they’re cage free or free range or whatever.

Factory farms are definitely awful but completely different from the average hatchery that sells chicks or hatching eggs directly to the consumer.

I just asked the husband if I could get a flock of bantams and he told me that I could  Just as long as I sell the ones that we don't need... I have zero issues with that :D

:lau that’s amazing!!

I want one too but I would wind up with 5 million chickens. :lau

I am getting a few bantams with this order but my family loves eggs so I do need to focus more on egg production sadly. :lau

But doesn’t mean I can’t have colorful birds. :D

Any large amount of chickens inside of a building increases the risk of diseases. That's why all of them pretty much are the same to me.

whenever you buy any type of live animal or dead butchered animals there is a risk of disease

Hmm that’s true and I’m sure there’s just automatically more risk with a lot of birds in one area but I still don’t think they’re all the same. Those meat farms don’t care about their birds at all and a lot of the big hatcheries don’t either but some are better, and cleaner, than others. Meyer and Cackle are two. Both also have pictures and videos of their facilities and breeding stock online which a lot of hatcheries don’t.

I CHAINED!
