➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

You sure that’s a quail egg? Some birds don’t build nests and lay in the open, “scrape nests.” Just wondering

No, it's not a quail egg. Much too small. The sunflower head is 4 feet off the ground and quail lay on the ground. Some wild bird deposited it. I find it very strange. Fart egg maybe???

It's a quail egg!
He wants quail.

(even it it is not we can pretend it is so we can trick him into building a bator and hatching it)
Shhh.

All is according to the prophecy. Quails and bators next year.

In the meantime, I'm fighting squash vine borers. Ripped out all the zucchini. Losing the butternut and the spaghetti isn't looking too hot after borer surgery. We are not amused. Cherry tomatoes are roaring and cucumbers right behind. The sole jalapeno is fruiting, but the replacements haven't germinated. We are still having issues. Chickens love the borer larvae. I certainly don't.

Isn't it bed time for you?

@RUNuts heres another bad pic of that cockerel at a younger age

School is out!
Mom can't put the kids to bed anymore.

I was told my free rooster was an amaracuana -- but realistically he is most likely an Easter Egger. Since we're talking EEs --when my room is crossed with one of my orpington's or sussex, the legs of the hens always turn blue, starting at about 2 weeks. The boys' legs stay yellow. It's a great auto-sexing feature. Also, those hens that inherit a pea comb lay blue-green eggs. Those that inherit a single comb lay brown eggs. Weird, huh?
