➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I just reread what Toogoodoo wrote....bobcat?!:thI knew we had cougars on the East Coast here....but bobcats?! @#%&*!
Fiance has seen quite a few over the years at the farm, and neighbors who lost their birds have seen one around before too. I've only ever seen a tamed one.

I kinda stopped going to visit them because this guy is so mean.
I secretly hope his disappears.
I may go pass by tomorrow to see if he is gone so I can return to feeding my ducks.
I remember being chased by Canadian geese when I was a kid trying to feed ducks at a local pond by my grandma's house. They don't bite lightly! Luckily Goot, our Toulouse, is super friendly and we jokingly called her Mother Goose for awhile because she loved having the young chicks curled up with her at night.

@Toogoodoo my sister in law has a porch chicken. As best any one knows, it witnessed the death and disappearance of its flock mates (raccoon?) and now sleeps on the covered porch with the dog. This has been going on for a year. I think it lays its eggs on a shelf in there.

I am EXHAUSTED. Two nights in a row the dogs, then the coyotes, then the cats decided I didn't need to sleep. Last night was a dog puke fest. Not my old ill golden retriever, but the other one. So between the both of them now not feeling well I have been doing lots of floor cleaning and late night trips outside. They can't go out alone because the coyotes have been visiting. The coyotes have really been non-stop this summer, more than years past; they must be raising their young close.

Everything I've planted is sprouting and growing. The rodent that got into my raised bed has not reappeared since I did my repairs, so hopefully it's gone for good. I did find a prairie dog in the chicken coop today, ugh, this is a first. They get in the run, but the coop is raised and I've never known them to go inside before this. My cat caught two more prairie dogs again yesterday, but he has yet to kill one. They are a large catch for him, he's now caught close to 10, but I don't think he's killed any. Still perfecting his technique I suppose.

I still can't decide whether or not to let my broody chicken hatch anything. She's been broody almost a week now. If she hatches, we won't be keeping anything, so I kinda want to have someone lined up for ducklings. Maybe it's time to try and break her.

:hugs Sleepless night with ill dogs is no fun.

It's hard when hens go broody and you don't have space for more chickens. That's how my chicken math got out of control.
