➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Man if I could I would ship them to you in a heartbeat.

Sometimes I think I'm being paranoid, other times I think I'm being realistic. The biggest fire (not the one by my house) grew to 24,000 acres since it started Wednesday. There is another one that is 22,000 acres. There is much less than that distance between my house and the Weston Pass Fire. They are fighting it because it is moving towards a town. It's got about 8 miles to go to reach a town. There are some rural developments and ranches between here and there. Part of me thinks of course they will establish a fire break somewhere in 8 miles, but part of me is terrified because wildfires are big and scary and can grow extremely fast, thousands of acres a day. We will see I suppose.

Sucks. I have family in south Cali that got their county evacuated.
I hope their home is safe and they will be able to return. The last close fire here got within feet of homes and no structures were lost and everyone could return home within a few days. I hope this is the case for your family.

Oh that was a while ago and the fire stopped a couple of miles from their house.

I don't do wildfires.
Nope.
You need to buy a large helicopter just in case.
So you can load up the critters and bail anytime.

I really do giggle when you all fuss about it being 90.
I can't help myself.
Probably the same way you all laugh when I complain about freezing to death when it is 50 here.
You are adapted to it, you FREAK!! besides I'm an old person. :gig
I'm going out there to tend the birds soon ...if you never hear from me again....:lau

Seriously, I have a method. Go out for a few minutes, come in go out a bit longer, come in, rinse and repeat until you are tolerating the temps. Works for heat or cold by priming the body to work with you.:)

WTH just happened with the quote above?
I'll fix it in a few when I get on my computer.

I can not believe these eggs are alive.
We must figure out a way to keep them alive this to me.
The bator should work.
I need to put the Turner in now too before I forget.

I just caught up on your flash lighting of the balut eggs! Lol! I love it! I would have done the same. You have better self control than me though... I probably would have bought the whole tray.

I’m not surprised that the eggs are alive. I found my broody hen kicked off her nest a couple times for very large parts of the day. One evening, just last week, I went out to close up and the eggs were cool to the touch- as she had switched to a different nest of fresh eggs. I put her back in the correct box and this morning we have a new little chick. :love We’ll see what the rest of her eggs do.

I can imagine the balut supplier and sellers try to get those eggs to the shop as soon as they are “ready” for eating. They wouldn’t want to sell truely rotting balut eggs.

Good luck!! I’ll try to keep up this time around :pop

So glad the eggs are alive!

@PirateGirl I live in wildfire country too. It's terrifying this time of year. There is a fire burning about 20 miles away right now, busy destroying some cattle ranchers' livelihoods. I think they got some containment overnight, but it's going to be a hot and windy day. This time of year, I'm always on the scanners, trying to be prepared. I cannot believe they still allow private fireworks out here.
