Can we just say that a purse left on the car seat, me leaning back into the car to get it just as hubby reaches over and slams the door makes for an interesting tale for the ER nurses. Took me an hour to get them past the "You don't have to cover for him, we can protect you" speeches.

Once I genuinely got a black eye falling down the stairs! I know, nothing to brag about, but it was icy, I hit my head on the railing on the way down, I doubt anyone believed my story even though it was the truth.

I broke my arm last year when a passing car's wing mirror struck my wrist. I was on a footpath, driver swerved to avoid on oncoming vehicle, narrow road. I said to the friend that drove me to the ER "They probably heard stranger tales than this in here?" Famous last words. After the 5th "You WHAT?!?" I started considering changing my story...

She stopped. She was nearly as shocked as I was, but she was lovely and helped as best she could. She even bought me a bag of frozen peas to put my arm on, to help manage the pain until I got to the hospital.

I'm surprised at how many people don't know what balut is! Being half Vietnamese I grew up hearing about it. It seems like it would be gross but the people who eat it say that it tastes like really strong chicken soup. I've always wanted to try it personally. I eat freeze dried squid and other weird Asian food so it's not a huge leap for me!

@Blooie, I used to work with a gal who talked like that. I wanted to carry a pillow with me so I could take a serious break any time she opened her mouth to tell me something. She had absolutely no internal governor to sift meaningless drivel from important stuff.
