I think it might work later in incubation but I am not so sure it would work from the start.

I'm thinking the air cell is too small at the very beginning to safely be able to open the shell.
In fresh eggs there is almost no air cell.
Maybe in older eggs, which also would already have one strike against them, the air cells would be larger.

I'm thinking fresh eggs incubated for 5 days at a higher humidity will have a decent air cell to work with.
