I've been told this once already but I didn't get it.

So I should add MORE dishes of water?

I thought for sure the humidifier thing would do something but all it seems to do is make things hotter.

Would I put the sponge inside of a dish.
Would it be better to add a sponge or just a bowl of water....would picking one or the other make a difference?
