➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

@Wickedchicken6
My vacations usually involve living out of a tent and no cell service. My husband and I dream of buying more land, so our vacation without the extended family will be driving through rural part of the US trying to figure out where we could potentially relocate, probably Montana. Everyone else lives east and likes things like air conditioning and housekeeping service and cable TV.
Air conditioning is the only thing I can't live without.
I love to clean and already don't have cable tv.
Tent?
Nope.

Nice!

I would not have thrown out the egg! I move them to lockdown unless they stink or are obvious clears.

I do the same, just to be sure...

This was well past lockdown, the others had hatched on day 20 and some were already in the brooder. There were 4 eggs at the 24, almost 25 day mark that hadn't done a darn thing - Smudge was one of those 4. The other 3 were DIS.

I am still in shock. I can not believe I am doing this.
I have to keep reminding myself that I am not going to rush out and buy what a normal person would (a bator), wait would a normal person buy balut eggs to begin with?
:barnie
I am going to see if what I have on hand (besides the two things above) can make this work (for now...I still ma change my mind.)

I put the hydrometer in and instantly get worried that I don't have enough humidity.
Will this help?
View attachment 1309572 I waited an hour or so and it did nothing.

I remember I have this hidden away and instantly think I am a genius.

Don't worry I washed it!

And now this is where I am at:
I have moved the operation balut under a table with the humidifier next to it and have blankets covering the table! Stop laughing!

I’m still trying to figure out what a balut egg is.

soooo... I got all the way to the end, finally, and still have not seen puppy pictures! Or did the birthing happen on another thread and another live Youtube channel?

Also, while I've got the attention of people who live places other than me, if you were to plan a vacation in summer within an 8 hour drive of Charlotte, NC, where would you go? These are the parameters I was given by some other family members as they don't exactly have the same ideas when it comes to vacations as I do.

You know, doing my best to keep this thread totally on topic.

No puppies. One exhausted, cranky Crazy Lady though. No pictures due to death threats. Although, she hasn't followed through yet...

Drive to Houston.
Don't worry about that 8 number.
It can't possible take more than 8 hours to get here can it?

What are you daft? It can take 8 hours to DRIVE across Houston.

Let's see 8 hours from Atlanta to Lake Charles, 2 hours from Lake Charles to Houston. How far is Charlotte from Atlanta? Was that 8 hours total or in one day.

** the 8 hours from Atlanta to Lake Charles is one stop for gas and 100 mph ** Doable. No tickets.

I open up all of the eggs that did not hatch at the end. Just in case and to figure out why they did not hatch
