LOL I tell my rooster to shut up when he crows oddly enough he listens.. well until I go back in the house then he crows 3 times and struts around lol. I also call my chickens by clucking at them. all but 3 chickens have names and there names are based of mythological gods/goddesses for the most part. But seriously no way in hell I'm going outside unless I have to I'm still use to hot cali weather (I really don't think ppl from cali really know what cold is!) lol

I don't SIT in the backyard. I do stuff in the backyard. I clean up, I garden (sometimes,) I build stuff. Summer is the season when I do all the work that needed to get done in winter but couldn't because of the snow. That's not much fun to do when it's 30* out.

Tell me about it! The mosquitoes aren't too bad, their bites only itch. But the black flies... ow. I would be perfectly okay with them going extinct.

So are you saying he crows EXACTLY 3 times after you tell him to be quiet?
I have 3 rooties in the house and they're talent is starting to crow everytime we get on the phone. My husband is so embarrassed. (Rooties in the house) Mr Flash is the worst.

My entire flock, including guineas come running if I clap. That's my call. They know they are getting eggs when I clap.

That's cool having mythical names of gods/goddesses!! I had those for my goldfish. Here the roosters get a Mr. name. I would die in Cali. I seriously would. Although this winter I have been cold. Maybe old age is creeping in and I'll like warm weather for the old bones.

Same here! high of 60 today and two days ago it was a snowy wonderland! Today everyone is out tilling their gardens and wearing shorts and ts! Its supposed to snow next week again though

I heard some cali folks complaining about freezing in 50°F weather while I was working outside in -20°F.

See, it's better here. Our fall has lasted right into December the last two years!!
Best part about fall...no black flies. Move here...you'll love it! (mostly)
