➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I have a quick story.
I was at the Mini's school field day this morning.
I met another parent who was Vietnamese and starting asking about balut.
She is the one who told me they DO sell it at the other store and she recommended that I go buy it there because she prefers that store.

I am thinking she might prefer the second store because they keep the eggs in the fridge and might be a little fresher vs. the original store who keeps them on the counter?

She though it was hilarious that I was trying to incubate them!

Lol!! Right?? Who does that?? Well, um, we do. We are the federation of fowl addicts, we could call ourselves the FFA and have turf wars with the Future Farmers of America. We could have a 12 step group. "hello, my name is (fill in your name) and I am a fowl addict. See, it all started when...."

Hello my name is Ursuline chick and I am a fowl addict. I have kept illegal roosters and too many hens in my yard. I am also a law breaker. It all started when my neighbor found a cockerel by the side of the road and brought him home. And being the lawless person that I am, I took him in. :lau:lau

ETA: No offense to the 12 steppers I know how important these programs are and how hard people work to make use of them to have a better life. Congats to all who are working their programs. And good luck in the future. :hugs

:love I hunted him down just now when I was there.
I asked if he was getting more eggs in today.

He said: I text you you no come last week.
I said: O YES I DID and I bought some but they were no good.
He said: Yes good...I only buy fresh!

I said: Ok, I will either check back later today (I highly doubt I am going back today) or first thing tomorrow morning.

Mmm - sounds like him was watching for you... Trying to get you addicted to balut! Come pretty lady, fresh balut every week!

Don't know if this was a good idea or not, but went out to check Miss Badness and she jumped out the broody box again and went back to her nest in the coop. So I just put her eggs under her in the coop. they are all marked, it will be easy to tell if other eggs are in the nest. Only real concern is that the broody box is less easily accessed by rats. We do get the occasional rat in the coop. St Brigid please protect my hen and her clutch.

Trying to think "outside the box", I have 6 laying boxes in the coop, perhaps this weekend DH can take the area of two and turn it into a broody box for Miss Badness (her new name). She would be better protected and the chicks won't fall once they hatch as it is elevated. Thoughts, anyone?

Would you be able to keep the other girls out of her box?
