Be careful, I found out I get gout if I eat a lot of tree nuts or peanuts after talking with Dad and his gout issues. Did you know roasted soy beans will also cause gout? Doctor, it hurts when I eat nuts...

All things in moderation. :tongue
Thanks for the Tip! I might have gout tendencies. My Father and two brothers have it.

I will be careful with eating nuts for sure!

Now, now, you can order your coffee black at Starbucks just like anywhere.

If I'm gonna drop that much coin on a cuppa coffee, by God its gonna be a mocha. :old

It's hockey, hockey, and more hockey here.

Yep here too.

If I try real hard and say please can I consider peanut M&M a healthy fat. .. just once?!! :th

Well, half of it. :lau

When I say what would grandma eat, I am referring to about 100 or so years back, not the 1950's. When people began really eating junk like TV dinners. I am referring to my Grandma who kept chickens, and a pig in her backyard for meat (also grandpa hunted game and fished for household meat) all while living in the city of New Orleans. They raised a pig in the city every year and took care of sending it to freezer camp themselves every year. Life was hard work, even in the city!

Agreed. The younger peeps need to say, "What Would Great Grandma Eat?"

Avoid garlic and lentils if you have the gout. A friend who was dosing her husband with garlic pills was shocked when the doctor informed them of the things to avoid because of the gout. She quit feeding him the garlic pills and his gout went away.

I have never been fond of Garlic and rarely eat lentils!

Thanks for the tip

I am overly fond of garlic. Lentils on occasion.

I was "eating healthy" and had almonds as daily snacks at work. Had trouble walking. Asked and the Doc said, no indications. Let's monitor it.

Good news - it didn't kill me!

Now, I want garlic toast and I've already had my loaf for this week. Patience...

I do need to add more nuts to my diet. I love Almonds and pecans. Walnuts hurt my mouth but that might be something to do with the oil them.

Mom, rest in peace, taught us how to bite a peppermint stick and start chewing then pop a walnut half in. Maybe that will help your mouth. Peppermint is good for the tummy. Hot Toddys (whisky and peppermint) are just good. So are mint juleps...

I'll let you know about the whisky and walnuts tonight. :D For science! And Kiki!
