Is anyone else in the hurricane coastal regions preparing yet. Starting a game plan for their chickens during hurricane season? ( I have hurricane PTSD, started when I was 8 and had to be rescued by boat! ) So I have to have a plan in place. Ax in the attic, life jackets, etc.

I bought some water...does that count?
I am no longer worried about flooding at my house, especially since the whole darn city was under water last summer and I was not.
My coop made it through too so I can't say I am worried about that wither.

I will most likely be stocking up on toilet paper only.
(Things may change if a storm starts brewing.)

We have a plan for wildfires. I wish it was a better plan. Basically is grab my laptop, a box of paperwork, a box of camping gear, and ALL the animals and get out. Ugh. The reality of natural disasters is terrifying.

I just wanted to share with someone that may appreciate it, but in the past 2 weeks I scored 4 free windows, which means my raised garden beds are becoming hot boxes! Which mean I can actually start planting soon!

Last batch of LG chicks are at the feed store. $2.50 each. 1 week old. 13 Austalorps, 4 Buff Orpingtons. Lots of leghorns and Golden sex links.
I want Australorps. I want the Australorps. I just got 6 EEs. I don't have the space or the need. But I have the desire.

There I feel better. My flock plan is according to plan. Must focus. Chicken math begone!

Stupid Floppy Broody still thinks she is broody. Been in the tractor for a week now. Her comb has shrunk so much. She needs to eat. Actually went to the roost tonight. See how tomorrow goes. If not, another night in the tractor. She would perch atop the dry box. Never got into the nest.

If I just get the Buffs, that won't be bad. But I want the Australorps. Maybe get a couple of Australorps. 13 ain't bad. I'd have to cycle the whole flock, but they are just now laying largish eggs. These chicks will be laying by Christmas. But the Ideal Australorps are 5# so small meat birds....
