In subdivisions being built alot of good lumber can be had for free. Especially form boards when I did siding after they formed the slab they would throw the boards away in the trash pile or roll off container and they have to be straight. That's where I got alot of wood for pens years ago.

It is unreal how many times i have seen GOOD stuff for free on my local Craigslist.
IF only it was safe to "meet" strangers to pick up free things.
Now way in the world I could trust the loons on my Craigslist.

If you see a house with columns installed holding the porch up chances are there are 2x4s nailed together in a T around. THEY were used to jack the porch up to set the columns. We set columns too and that's how we did it. Straight as well

I see things like this play house and want to turn it into a chicken coop too!
