➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Miss Sunshine still doesn't want to eat :hit
but she will give in and eat hamburger and eggs
so I guess the old girl gets gourmet dinner the rest of her life
All my elderly dogs got special diets of which meat and eggs were prominently featured. Anything that kept them interested in food was fine by me.

It's so hard when they get old. All you can do is shower them with love and care and enjoy each day you have left with them. :hugs

Woo this thread was busy over the weekend :)

How's the emu @Toogoodoo ?
Emu is doing great. Zooming around, and getting along with the other birds. We put a RIR in with it at night. We did have to take Poot the Goose out of the same pen because it started pulling feathers from the chickens and eating them! Never saw that before. Will post another picture of it once they decide to finally come through.

Oh my gosh they’re cute. I’m pretty sure my future is filled with rescues and maybe a German Shepherd to satisfy husband, but maybe a catdog pup will slip through the cracks :love
1 German Shepherd leads to 2 German Shepherds ... LOL :)

Technically, no.

They are Crazy Lady's. I have Crazy Lady.

Kiki how many dogs are you at now? 3 real + 1 faker?

We are down to 12!
There were 8 in my old house at one point ... it was a lot!! 2 GSDs, 1 ancient Rottie, 1 Bulldog/boxer, 1 red Heeler, 2 Boykins, 1 pit puppy ...

Me too.
We had 10 cats at one point. Momma, 8 kittens, and older son. Even that was a handful but momma fed the kittens.
Most I ever had inside at one point was 8 - my 3 boys, then a feral momma who hung out on the porch a lot had 4 kittens - took her & kittens inside until weaned, then adopted them out through a rescue group.

2 horse mouths are expensive enough.
I am good on dogs for a long time.
I want 2 horse mouths to feed. So much.

We now have three dogs, a barn cat, 18 ducks, 13 recently hatched ducklings, over 100 chickens and chicks, 106 head of cattle with 35 calves and more on the way.
We are a little busy with the animals and garden. Good thing we are both retired. :lau:gig:lau
Would love to have some cattle, fiance used to have a bunch, long before we met though.

We're at:
~300 chickens/chicks, 2 geese, 2 pheasants, 3 Narragansett turkeys, 15 ducks, 5 dogs, 1 cat, 2 sheep, 3 mini potbellies, & 3 meat pigs.

I've noticed the males cats are usually sweet the females can be more skittish. My male tabby cat loved my dogs but he passed away.
My male cats have always been much more loving and friendly than my females. Except Neko, he hated everyone for the most part, except me lol.

Hope everyone had a great weekend :)

Friday came home to a few more chicklets in the incubator. Ended up with 7 from the Australorp eggs, unfortunately the light fell in the tote we were using as a brooder at some point in the night and we lost 3 :( Next morning woke up to a little bantam chicklet, we had slipped that egg in a day later than the rest, so it hatched right on time. Had 4 eggs that were quitters in the bunch. Took those out last night. Next group is due to hatch Wednesday, :fl ... then the 18th is the last chicken egg batch, and a few duck eggs are supposed to hatch on the 25th but we aren't holding much hope on those.

Another bunny had bunny beans yesterday - 7 of them!! Going to need to get some more hutches / pens for bunnies soon. We had a really nice one set up when we bought out the rabbit farm, and then they managed to escape and it was not a lot of fun chasing them all with a net lol. Amazed we found them all. The 2 bunny beans left from OG Mama are growing nice and fat and happy. The Jersey Wooly beans are doing great also.

Moved some birds to a new coop/pen we made, and the neighbor brought over his old coop and finished setting it up for us today. Sold our 2 Australorp hens on Saturday. Moved meat pigs to a different pen, and put all potbellies together finally. Luckily it didn't rain all weekend like originally predicted.

Squash is growing good, need to replant it in the ground soon. Got some other things in pots growing well, though we can't really remember what they were in the pots after fiance planted them lol. Some peppers, tomatoes, small carrots, radishes.

And, emu standing semi-still for a nanosecond.

I had a nightmare that I was raising them for food... I was trying to wrestle it down to process it like my turkeys  It was as big as a cow and I wasn't having much luck
when I woke up I wondered why it didn't kick me to death :heand why I wasn't using a gun instead:gig
