➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

:weeThey look so neat :love

I had a nightmare that I was raising them for food... I was trying to wrestle it down to process it like my turkeys  It was as big as a cow and I wasn't having much luck
when I woke up I wondered why it didn't kick me to death :heand why I wasn't using a gun instead:gig

Well that's a crazy dream

I hope this one becomes tame like the fiance's last one (this emu's mom) - he used to sit down and it would lay in his lap and rest her head on the ground. They thought it was a male all that time too lol til she laid an egg this year! I love the feathers. Only problem I foresee is that I have a few piercings (nose, both side of lip, and 4-5 each ear), and that emu ripped someone's lip ring clean out once! :th

I recently learned that emu were raised for food for awhile as a "replacement" for beef, and that the oils were deemed valuable as another benefit for emu farmers.
Definitely don't think wrestling one would be a great idea with how they can have lethal kicks lol! This one is already crazy strong with it's legs when it doesn't want to be held.

and emu and ostrich meat was a craze a while back, used for food in many other countries

We were shopping.
This particular store is pretty cool.

Just a couple of photod of the cow herds on pastures and a few of the garden.
What a beautiful garden and property! :) I'd love to have a view with some cows in it! (I guess I could look across the street to the fiance's family's property, but our own would be nice too!)

Miss Sunshine must be feeling a little bit better today because while I was cooking her egg in the kitchen she actually got up from her bed in the other room and walked in to see what I was doing, licking her lips. This is good. Then when we went out she stopped to look for squirrels in the wood pile. This is also good. She has not had interest in anything for days.

I love it!!!

So green and beautiful. Where I live, it's only green from about March to May and then everything that not on irrigation, slowly turns brown and dies.
