➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I never gave them my number.. dang I really should have, huh?

I can’t sleep. I should’ve called the post office yesterday. I’m trying to swallow my anxiety right now lol.
Have you went to pick them up yet?
I woke up late!:barnie

Guys I am in absolute heaven. Ordered 8, got 9. All are in good health. All got a drop of nutri drench and are eating and drinking great. One has an umbilical scab (vent is clear) and seems overly tired, keeping an eye on that.

Currently typing with one hand as most of them are asleep under the other hand.

I am absolutely giddy. My husband keeps making fun of my little kid excitement but every time he looks at them I see him melt on the inside.

Need some help with breed ID. I definitely didn’t get exactly what I ordered but I’m okay with whatever. I’m confused at who is who though.
They are so stinking cute!!! Looks like Easter Eggers, Barred Rocks and I dunno on the yellows. What did you order, again?

Same here!

@KikisGirls do they ever refrigerate balut eggs? You have me wanting to try to hatch some, not sure what to look for. Ranch Market supposedly carries them in my area. I’m assuming it will only work if they are fresh and not cold.
The original store, where I bought the first eggs that were alive and these eggs that were obviously alive...were not refrigerated.
They are left sitting on the store counter top thing.

The other store that I bought some from did keep them in the refrigerated section, but I haven't hatched those yet.

I'm not sure if you remember the beginning of this but I did put the first two eggs I bought into my refrigerator for hours when I first bought them.

I am pretty sure the eggs arrive from Dallas to here in Houston in a refrigerated truck because they are cool-cold to the touch when I buy them the same day they are delivered.

I am not sure where Blue Ridge is  I will look in a few minutes.
And I will try to find a store new year that looks like it might sell them.
I suggest looking at VIETNAMESE places...not Chinese.

A very grumpy post office lady just called and told me to pick my chicks up :celebrate
Guess they had my number all along lol.

Everything is ready. Now to find a ride.
Excuse the mess. I’ve been running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off. Back run wall is secured with hardware cloth until they are older.

I TOLD YOU!

They have been there at your post office since late last night!

Ideal hasnt even emailed me that they sent them yet. Im kind of worried that they delayed them when i emailed them and asked them to because of the storm. But when i did that they never even responded so i just assumed that they were still sending them. Should i email them and ask if theyre still sending them?
Call them.
Call them now they should be open.

For future reference, go to your nearest PO. Ask them when the truck gets in. Tell them you are expecting live chicks and when. They will give you the "will call" address. I picked mine up at dark thirty before work. The PO will answer their door for live chicks before they open.

My Post office is 20 minutes away from the house. The other post office is 12. I go to the closer one.

@KikisGirls Lowe's has a 10 gallon concrete mixing tray that works great for a swimming pool (or a feeder big enough for everyone to get into). Works well. Then get a paint roller metal drip wiper for the ramps. Or stack some bricks up. Toss some corn on the bottom for bobbing practice.

@Tesumph congratulations! The run looks wonderful!

@theuglyduckling - hope yours arrive soon & safe!

@Ursuline Chick Best wishes for finding homes.

Have a wonderful day in all your endeavors!
NO CORN!
Kiki HATES corn!

I think I am going to put them in the real pool today. The real baby pool.

It's so hard to ID chicks! The little chickmunk ones could be a lot of things -- amaraucanas, easter eggers or sussex. The black one could be an australorp, or maybe a maran.

It will be fun to watch them get older and guess again.
