➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

What temperature were the eggs being held at when you bought them?
I know that during the first week of incubation, eggs can be chilled down to below physiological zero and start growing again when incubation temperature is resumed but I can't imagine an egg at balut stage being viable very long.

I am pretty sure these eggs are around 15 - 17 days in when I buy them.

I don't know if it's a survival mechanism because I have 3 boys and i'm forced to watch no matter what I think, but I like the Avengers. I hate Scarlett Johanssen but I can get over it. However, they're more in the "comedy" category for me. I thought Captain America and Wonder Woman were FANTASTIC!

Oh.....chicken talk, hatching , and now home decor...be still my wittle heart...avid crafter and painter of many things...I did a similar effect on my China hutch, you paint, let dry than sand. I did a lot less than the look you want, your base than shows thru. Basicly on edges and where normal ware would occur. I did not seal mine but I have done that on other pieces with wax. Also if you hit the chalk paint with a heat gun when wet it will create bubbles that when sanded will show more under wood coloring and give your piece a more aged look.View attachment 1472403 View attachment 1472404

OMG I have a light wood china hutch that is similar to yours, that I don't like the color of. What a great idea, may have to do this to up date the hutch, as it just doesn't fit with my other furniture anymore and I need it for my china, etc. Yeah, I won't have to buy a new piece of furniture!! I think DS is afraid of all my chickens. Although he won't admit it 38 year old man who works on tug boats afraid of chickens.

Not at all a bad time. I knew these things about gerbils already but hope it doesn't get to a depressed state. She had a Syrian for around two years that recently died and has been begging for something else. We went to lps to offer our old reptile tank for sale/trade and the owner showed DD2 the baby gerbils that will be ready sometime after we get back from San Antonio. It will get plenty of play and close observation so if I see depression issues action will be taken. But DD is extremely attentive to her little fur babies so I'm hoping it might become her buddy since we will be getting it so young. We got our Syrian as soon as was weaned and he was a wonderful boy.

That’s awesome! Glad you know what you’re getting into haha. I’m personally not a fan of the flightier rodents, that’s why I like rats so much. They’re chill and don’t act like idiots.
If your daughter happens to not get along with gerbils for whatever reason, she should look into them!

I saw the CUTEST little blue hooded rat at the reptile store yesterday. He was a in the feeder tanks but they sell them as pets too. He was the most gorgeous little dumbo though, you would’ve loved him.
