➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

what is the best way to feed and water chicks while they are still in the cabinet incubator? Yes, I know this ia balut thread but I checked and this is where BYC says KiKisgirls and Bantychooks are hanging out.
Thanks,
Karen
What is the bottom of the incubator like? A flat surface? Could you sprinkle some crumbles directly on the ground for them to peck? Or use a very thin wide dish, like the lid of a plastic cup or Tupperware dish?

If I am remembering correctly, I believe that @Sally Sunshine puts Gro Gel in the hatcher for the chicks. I have tried it and it really does seem to give the chicks a head start.

So I just read something along the lines of some chicks have a black comb until they reach puberty so I guess this will probably be the case here. Hope so. I'd just never seen a back comb before. OH & sorry everyone for the gross nail shot. :thI go through off & on stages of biting my nails (a habit I've fought since childhood). Usually when I've got too much time in my hands. :he
Since you pointed it out, EVERYONE is now looking at and judging your nails!! :lau

Come on, now! You should know us better than that... we don't judge nails, just Book choices and TV series choices.

Thank you Kikisgirl and Bantychooks for your help. I was just worried that a loner newly hatched would be lonely until more chicks joined it. Doing the brooder thing.
Thanks again!!
Karen
Fill a sock with rice and warm it in microwave for a tiny bit...(a long sock nd be sure to tie a knot in it.)
put it in the brooder next to him, he will be fine.

So what your saying is I've only got one strike against me?

I prefer to offer wet crumbles at first..(well I only feed wet feed) to make sure they get water in too.
