I love these videos! I’ve always tried to keep my interactions with the eggs in the bator to a minimum as I was always afraid to do something to hurt the hatch rate. I’m amazed that you guys can do this during lockdown with no ill effects! I’m going to candle my eggs tonight. I think I’m on day 17 with my Pekin eggs.

hatching eggs and chicks tend to be alot hardier than portrayed on the internet sometimes. Taking eggs from under a broody one by one to candle and set them on the ground till all were candled so I knew I got all of them was commonplace and sometimes the broody thought it wouod be a good time to stretch. Same with pipping and hatching as Kiki is doing now no worries

For some reason I don't worry one bit about candling during lock down but I also don't really worry about humidity levels either.

What works for me may not work you for.

I giggle when people say they are afraid to open the bator during lockdown because there is no way in the world I could leave it closed.

I think the humidity level is more important through out the entire process.

I live in a super hot, humid place so I couldn’t keep the humidity away if I tried. It rains and I mean POURS everyday, often time several times a day. So humidity is not my issue
