I agree with that assessment---for the first season. The only reason I didn't stop watching about 6 episodes in is I knew it got better. It did. How far did you make it before giving up?

They can get to be tame enough that they'll stay calm if you put your hand in their cage, but in my experience they will never sit on your lap or not struggle when held.

Most of mine don't like to be touched at all but only freak out when I go into the cage. I have some that are friendly and I can hold/pet them. It took a little while to get them that way with just standing/sitting there talking to them and offering treats. Both of the friendly ones are hens and were more curious than the others. Not sure if its a gender thing or just a personality thing. The friendly ones get names; Olive was my first friendly one and Marigold is the second.

I prefer to raise roosters myself, but if you don't mind taking a small chance on aggression/other bad behaviours then he doesn't seem like a bad option. You got any place to quarantine him?

I do. I have a small coop that I plan to use. The gal also gave me her address so I can see what her set up is like. If he is aggressive, I have no problem taking him out. I also prefer raising my own, but I have no rooster, so my eggs are no longer fertile! Poor me. What do you think this creature is?
