➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Yeaj, it's a bit steep considering I could likely find a rescue the same age. Maybe I should do that...

But the $1800 for puppy is relatively reasonable, most breeders are either like $1200, $1500, $1800, $2000 or somewhere in between. I've seen $2500.

I think though if I am going to get an older one like that then I should maybe go to a rescue. Or save and spend the money on a puppy I can mold from the beginning rather than paying more than the puppies for an adult.

Although rescues around here are between $400 and $600 usually anyway :(

Don't listen to me. You do whatever feels right to you. I always said I'd never own a smush faced and that I would adopt my next dog from a shelter but then I met my pek and I went against everything I don't believe in bc she is my doggy soul mate and it was love a first sight. If you plan on working with this dog in agility you two need to connect. There are ways to test dogs and puppies to be sure they are willing to please trainable type (not all aussies are created equal). I probably would at least research some of those tools and familiarize myself with them before you pick but other than that I'd say follow your heart.

Super adorable, but I'd be leery of getting a dog from a website that is already calling them headstrong!:lau

I saw that too!:gig

LOL that was the first thing I noticed as well. And this.

Which kind of scares me from Aussies cause I have heard the stubborn bit

BUT

Almost all of their dogs have a ton of titles in the rear end as opposed to only championships. Like rally, companion dog, canine good citizen, etc. So that leads me to believe they're pretty trainable and all the stuff I wanna do.

It's a lot of titles too, I feel like most breeders only maybe have a couple if any.

Although I do know you guys are joking and yes I thought it was hilarious too lol

Oh no, you're right, it's definitely expensive and I didn't mean to downplay it and "reasonable" is a relative word because even 1800 is still a ton of money. But I do think getting from a reputable breeder who health tests and/or does activities with them is definitely worth it. I did just look in rescue and there's a few but not many :/ also another issue I am having is finding standard breeders and not minis. Seems everyone is breeding minis and miniature American Shepherds now :/

I didn't realize there were tests for that sort of thing. I know of standard puppy temperament tests but are there others?

And it's mostly just a crazy want/pipe dream atm. I don't think I'm ready for a dog atm but maybe soon

I cannot believe how late I've stayed up tonight on BYC! I think I need an intervention. For the record my weekend started today so no school for me tomo. That being said I do have to take kids to school so I'm forcing myself to sign off. Goodnight (or should I say morning?).:frow

Same! Ugh. The past few nights I've gone to bed early, by midnight or 1 but then stay up till 2 or 3 on phone!!! Gahhh. BYC and dog research :lau

Kikigirls not enough quail updates..

Cyprus, keep up the life support on the babe....I have been thru a lot of chicken issue's but never have had to tube feed. If she does not make it can you send her to a lab outside of your state that may be cheaper? All other sorts of shanagin's have happened whilst I caught up...but want you all to see Roo, best picture I have gotten of him, look at that stink eye, he is nearly 2 feet tall, but not aggressive in any way. And a picture of him compared to my Maggie a 40lb mut
