Yeah somewhat lately but I wasn't sure if maybe it was cause his nails were so long, or at least partly. He's fine outside or on rugs and stuff but we have hardwood floors. We do have a lot of rugs but when he's not on one he can have issues. Although oddly as soon as we leave he gets up fine ha hopefully trimming his nails will help even a little.
But I think he def has bad hips or something or an injury or bad conformation or something. Idk. Is it me or do his legs look bowed in?
It's weird cause I don't remember him being allergic to it before but I guess he must be. Although he's been in grain free for 4 years. Mostly. Tried a few grain foods in between and still treats with grain.
I would love to feed raw but my mom thinks it's gross and it's also really expensive. I know there are cheaper ways to go about it but it's also time consuming to make/prepare myself (which is how I'd save money, finding cheap sources of meat, hunters, whatever) and buying the various premade options is wayyyy too expensive for a dog his size. Haven't weighed him lately but the last appointment he was 147 and that was only like late spring, early summer. So that adds up fast. Most premade is designed for little dogs. And he'd need like 3 pounds a day or slightly less so even making it myself, it would get expensive. And he really should probably be 130 or at least 140 so I wonder if the extra weight is causing problems. Probably. I think he's lost some since that appointment but still. But it's hard because he eats a lot lately and he's sick or out of shape or something so he can't exercise much. Maybe we could start swimming or something.
He is 6 1/2. And yes, he went when we first noticed it, or actually the vet commented, and he was on steroids for like two weeks I think but my dad extended it some cause he was doing so well on them so we got more but that's it and I was reading it really should have been like 6 months? And I can't help but wonder if we could've prevented it from getting worse
I don't think the vet knows much about the disease either cause he was gonna research more cause he doesn't see it much. And he's been on steroids a few times since but mostly short term and for varying things, not exclusively the myositis. Like eye and skin infections. And still gets it occassionally because it seems to make him himself again temporarily but it seems to upset his stomach so we stopped the latest one. I think the issue started maybe last year? Possibly before, not entirely sure. I'd have to look at the vet records to figure out exactly when he went and what he was given when but it's a pretty small teeny/old vet place and I don't know that he really knows too much about less common diseases or whatever but he's great with the animals or at first. Think he might be slightly scared of him after he's snapped a couple times. I kind of want to switch vets but he's very cheap/reasonable and the other one is busier, more animals, which I don't think would be good. But we are talking about taking him to run tests or something or even take him up to Boston. Although I fear it may be way too late now
