Wow...the rain simply keeps rolling in in waves. We are over 2 inches right now. The duck pens look like lakes! But the coops are dry.
I put Hobble out with the momma ducks day before yesterday before the rain. She/he was Mattie's duckling that hatched during the bobcat assaults on the pens.
Hobble was the only one to survive the frightened trampling in the coop. I took it in and bandaged the foot in a boot to help the ankle and foot, not realizing right away that its upper leg was also broken. I had to rebreak and set the leg bone and then wait for it to knit before putting Hobble back in the pen with mother and the two week older cousin Cutie. The drakes and momma ducks would all run from Hobble, but Cutie took right to having the younger duckling as a buddy.
Right now they all are playing in the puddles, swimming in the pools, eating feed in the dry coop, or nibbling on the wet grasses outside the pens.
The chickens refuse to come out of the barn/coop.
@KikisGirls ... Are you going back for another yoga class?
@Cyprus ... Sorry about your pullet. Hope you find out the cause.
Enjoying the art discussions and the game birds and gardening talk.
