➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Yes. Barnyard surprise. Only Rooster is a mutt. Need a picture of him.
Chicken rancher donated 8 eggs to try an incubator that egg man bought. Egg man going into chick business with feed store guy.
Aha! Now that makes sense. If the rooster was solid and was crossed onto any barred hens then the boys will have a headspot and light barring, and females will be solid.

That’s pretty much standard if you want to get anywhere here. :gig There is a spot when I leave campus where I have to turn into the farthest lane because if I don’t then I can’t get onto the highway. It’s always so difficult if you take the closest lane.

Completely agree....this is my morning commute and my evening commute! If I'm lucky some mornings...I can get off my exit and zoom across all 4 lanes! DE is so small that if I don't....I either wind up in NJ or PA very quickly.....can't have that now.

Cy - don't do as I do (until you're 40 - ish....:gig)

So if Barnyard rooster is solid and mated with the Dominique hens, any barring says boy. Along with that awesome comb at 2 weeks. :hmm

The other one is still a guess. Here's hoping that I don't have Ursuline's luck and get 2 cockerels. :fl

I put the CX out at 1 week. Of course, it was 100°F outside and hotter than that in the garage. Had a huddle box with heating pad inside suspended for them to get underneath. Cut 2 doors so easy escape and no worry about trampling. Worked well the first week. Second week, outside.

I'm sorry guys, I can start a thread if it'd be better, but I did want your opinions if you've had experience with this. Should I just separate her each time she goes broody and try to break her or should I get rid of her somehow. I lose at least an egg a day to her so I'm really getting frustrated and know I've got to do something about her.

The peeps at the mushroom forager thread would probably know. Hey Ralphie @duluthralphie are you around???

Thank you, I'll post a photo there too. The tiny yellow bumps in the soil left of the big ones are new shrooms coming up. Will use rubber gloves to remove them anyway.

Possibly an Amanita which is both poisonous and hallucinogenic.
Yikes! I'll read up on those. We have had a really humid summer and I put duck poop wood shavings in the planter box. Never seen these before...ever! Will carefully remove and destroy them!

OMG...tell me about broody at the same time!!! For the past week I think all I do is go home and toss Silkies out of the nesting boxes. There aren't even any eggs to sit on! My Porcelain D'Uccle is newly broody this year and she's PSYCHO....P-S-Y-C-H-O! I've been growled at before by the Silkies but the noise this one makes is demonic screaming.:oops:

But I totally agree....:love their fluffy butts!

Every noise my d'uccles make sounds like no other bird. Their noises are all their own. When I first got them and they first started making noises I thought some sort of bird was down in my yard and making distress calls. They're so weird. I've also had to retrieve them from my roof before!:lau
