For me, the hardest part is making the decision to do it and picking a firm day. I always feel the worst, the night before, as I'm feeding them their last meal. (BTW, as long as you don't leave them access to food overnight, they should be fine. I've never fasted my birds longer than that).

Then, in the morning, we put our game faces on and concentrate on doing the task at hand as quickly as possible with as little stress to the birds as possible.

You can do this. The quail will be delicious and you gave them a GREAT life.
