Unfortunately we are a "fence in" state. Now stuff happens and animals can escape. Accidents (and life) happen. So in those instances I can understand being reasonable. I know there are some exceptions and not everything is just black and white. But there is a provision if the "livestock is habitually escaping" where the livestock owner can and will be held responsible. Otherwise I can't even fathom how it is even reasonable that because you can't properly take care of YOUR animals then it is somehow my fault and I have to pay for it. That just doesn't make sense to me. Pfft! I don't care what the law says. If you can't take care of what you have, you shouldn't have animals. Period. I feel that way about other animals as well. That's just my opinion. My neighbors are lucky that we're nice people. Some people can be real jerks and could make their lives miserable. We're not like that. I just call them and let them know their cows are out and vent elsewhere to keep the peace. Supposedly they are getting out of the animal breeding/selling/farming business. I can only hope.![]()
