➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

You have the incubator... ;)

Yep, be a shame not to use it. Got any Australorp eggs for March delivery? Or maybe Cream Legbar? Barred Rocks would be nice. As would Dominiques. Would Necked Necks get tore up by the swamp mosquitos? Should get a couple of Leghorns too.

Thank you Incubator Fairy!

Don't buy a brownie mix. Here is my reduced sugar brownie recipe.

EASY DOUBLE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES

2 cups (12 oz. pkg) Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels, divided
½ cup butter, cut into pieces
3 eggs
1¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup sucralose
½ tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
½ cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter a 13" x 9" pan. Melt 1 cup morsels
and butter in large, heavy-duty saucepan over low heat; stir until
smooth. Remove from heat. Add eggs and stir well. Add flour, sugar,
baking soda and vanilla extract, stir well. Stir in remaining morsels
and nuts. Spread into prepared pan. Bake for 18-22 minutes or
until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out still slightly
sticky. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.

Thanks! That sounds delicious!! I was actually wondering if it was possible to make brownies from scratch so this is great!!

If you are not concerned about sugar, just replace the Sucralose with an equal amount of sugar. Of course the nuts are optional, I just prefer my brownies with nuts in them.

We will have some Australorps in March!

9/12 hatched from the sold hatching eggs. :) Pretty good odds considering the hens were molting when they requested them.

Fuzzy feet are a no-no. Swamp chickens shouldn't have mud collectors. Are these Cream Legbars or pure Australorp? I thought Australorps were clean legged. (??)

Do all Cream Legbar have fuzzy feet?

When the white leghorns take a dirt batch, they look terrible. Big black bottoms. They eventually come clean, but concerned me at first. :gig All those fluffy butt feathers just hold the black dirt. Speaking of which, the molted hen looks strikingly white compared to the unmolted. Only 2 of the 6 are laying. Hence the anxiety over the new layers.

These are Langshan and Brahma crosses, we haven’t hatched any of our Australorps yet. Waiting for our pullets to get the kinks worked out first. :)
