➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

@KDOGG331 ...love the cabin with the cemetery! In my younger days would have taken that one on in a heartbeat. Always wanted to live off the grid.
And the last NH home is lovely.
We have a 1950s remodeled ranch style (that needs a new renovation) on 400 acres.

As for geese! We will never...ever...have African geese again...noisiest, meanest and messiest ever.

Kiki is hatching! :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy
I'm just now collecting eggs to hatch. Got two new Bantam Delaware roosters for the bantam Delaware hen's. The old boy was getting old and infertile. The girls had quite laying until the new guys were added to the pen. The old boy is retired to the big henhouse. And the Columbian Wyandotte pen has been laying. Going to set these eggs this week.

I think living off the grid is cool but not one that old lol and unfortunately, so many New England homes are very old. 1700s and 1800s, some possibly older. Makes for some very pretty homes and some gorgeous old barns, I love that aspect, and I love reading and learning about history, or maybe touring these buildings or driving by, but I could never live in them lol

And isn’t it!? I was not expecting it to be so nice for how small it is and how the outside looks aha they went all out on the inside.

And wow that is awesome!! I don’t know that I would want that much land lol

I used to think I did but now idk. We have like 2.5 now and it’s big but I think I want at least 5 but even that seems small and I like privacy and not having neighbors build up in a few years aha so I think I want at least 10-20 probably. 30-50 may be perfect or even 100 or less, idk. So hard to know the perfect amount lol too much and you have more maintenance and taxes but too little and not enough room for everything I want to do lol I want goats and/or sheep (maybe, idk, goats are kind of a PITA lol), at least a couple horses, obviously tons of chickens, possibly ducks or meat chickens, rabbits, and of course lots of dogs and cats and possibly guinea pigs or gerbils and parakeets or cockatiels and maybe a goldfish pond but that might be a lot of work. And of course huge vegetable gardens. And enough land to hike on (I can make trails, doesn’t need to be established) and possibly skijor or dog sled. Cause I would also loveee a dog sled team but that is not exactly compatible with farming lol although if I had enough land, I could keep them totally separate lol but I don’t really want to chain dogs or even loose in a dog yard or kennels or anything and I wouldn’t even have that many anyway. Would rather pets in the house lol

I would love to have at least 10 acres but unless you want to pay over half a million for a beat up trailer house on 6 acres then it's pretty much going to stay a dream. :(

Awww sorry :( maybe you need to consider moving somewhere else lol
Not a possibility. Can't just move to somewhere where there isn't a job lined up.

Well, my big news backfired as usual..

We had a bid put in on a house that had been sitting on the market for months with no change, no offers, 6 acres, and at our budget and we just got word that "they accepted the other offer" that was conveniently turned in right as ours was. :( There was spots for expanding and getting our potential petting zoo/mobile pony parties in order. I just don't know why we're supposed to be stuck in this ridiculously awful home that we are at right now.

I’m sorry Prairie. :hugs It wasn’t meant to be, but another piece of land WILL come along, and it’ll be bigger and better too. Patience is a virtue!
