The Australorp cross from this summer graced us with her first egg. Our only brown egg layer layed a beauty. Not quite 6 months old.

No. that was the cockerel that I was hoping was a pullet with strong comb development. He was Dot and she was Eyeliner due to the white streak under the eyes.

Australorp with barnyard mix rooster. Got the Dominique comb going. Weirdest thing. The EE have small combs. This one has a flat comb. Not what I was expecting.

Not in my area, it's a nice and balmy 45°F. It was in the 20s on Saturday and the chicken's water kept freezing over.

We are actually experiencing a winter this year. It's going to be in the 20s again on Thursday and in the 30s next week.
