they were developed originally for small S. asia homesteads for meat.

90-100 pound estimate. A well fed pig. I didn't realize it was a pot bellied. It looks like a pig.

The article says social. This one has goats for friends. Hmmm.

Thanks, that article was interesting. Already knew some of it though, the whole mini pig thing is definitely a big scam and harmful to all the pigs dumped after they get bigger than the promised weight, but idk, i feel like that whole thing was really super anti pet pig or something. I mean, I’m not entirely sure that they HAVE to have other pigs. They’re definitely social animals but if they’re raised with humans (or other animals like dogs, cats, other livestock, etc.), they won’t necessarily know any better or be less happy. Plenty live in houses as pets and are fine. That said, you do have to be prepared, which most people that impulsively buy a teacup pig, are NOT. They are like having a toddler for life. Which is why I won’t get one. But they can be good pets if you’re prepared

yeah I see pot bellys for cheap or free to good home by me... I don't want to take something given as a pet and eat it
although I did in one of the first cockerels I got... people had 2 posted free for a month, post said organic fed, nothing about good home... I was looking to get back into chickens after 40+ years. I figured I could see if I wanted to for real and see if I could train the dog not to kill them.. I figured I would kill the spare when I got hens if the dog didn't... after chasing 2 cockerels around the peoples yard for 2 HOURS (really wish I had asked if I needed a net, thinking they would be ready to pick up) ... the lady say they will make beautiful babies when you hatch in the spring .. umm turns out she thought they were going to a good home... I felt bad but after chasing forever to catch them I wasn't telling her any different ... one has a good home still , the other made soup.. dog is trained with no casualties

I think they can be fine with other animals as friends. I know plenty of people with one pot belly pig but it has goats, chickens, horses, dogs, cats, etc. for friends. I think it depends on the pig. I know some humans who would prefer the company of animals to other humans lol it’s not always black and white.

Ahhhh. Loaded with sugar! My glucose would be sky high.

My first batch of eggs are hatching tonight. Already have one that popped a day early.
When I went out a little later this evening than usual to coop up the ducks, they were huddled in the corner of their pen quaking up a storm. And there was an owl on top of Gertrude!!
Fortunately the owl quickly flew off and she ran to her buddies. Checked her over and no damage. Will definitely be cooping the ducks by 6:30 pm instead of 7 pm. From now on!

Umm turns out I have a MAJOR sweet tooth.... s

My dinner (and the only thing I have eaten all day, just finishing eating it now)???? Chocolate chip and mini marshmallow pancakes.....

And I had a bit of ice cream with melted chocolate chips and mini marshmallows while it was cooking...

The ice cream mostly melted though and the chocolate froze upon hitting the ice cream so I didn’t eat most of the chocolate or finish it and mostly drank the melted ice cream but still. All that sugar before absolutely LOADING up with MORE sugar!? Probably a horrible idea

A lot of the marshmallows caramelized upon flipping though so a lot of them don’t have marshmallows anymore (like they’re gone, straight up the holes where they were are empty) but some do still have marshmallows cause I got the timing down and even without marshmallows, still soooooo much sugar. Plus I had all of them too..... made one of the things that makes like 6 or 7 or whatever.... added a bit more water than it said to by accident so they are thinner and I can eat more but still. Because of that it probably made more than it said. Though they are bigger ones and at the end I made one giant plain pan sized one that I threw out so not quite all of it but still.... I have a problem..... and now it is starting to hit me cause it’s been like 10, 15 mins, but the time I am typing and eating (very slowly) and I actually feel kinda sick/shakey now......
