➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

The neighbor that we had issue with whose cows were constantly coming and grazing in our yard... we're having issue again. Only it's not their cows. They actually sold off a lot of their cows and had been working to secure the area for them and/or put them in a farther away pasture. But now it is their goats. Dozens and dozens of goats. I like goats. I love goats. I want goats. I just want my own goats in a safe and properly contained area. Why is it so hard for people to take care of their animals? That just let them have free run/reign of the property? Am I really that much of a stick in the mud to think this is a big issue? We have a unique living situation. This property was once like 180 acres and was owned by my hubby's grandmother. Her house is the main residence and it is at the top of a hill/driveway, which is about 1/3 of a mile away from the road. She gave 4'ish acres of property to my father in law to live on which is in the field down at the bottom of the hill closer to the road. She also gave my hubby and I 4'ish acres to live on which is right next to my father in law. So we have the bottom section and all 3 of us have a shared driveway to the main road. So not your typical living arrangements. The grandmother passed away and there was a lot of drama and some financial/property shadiness that took place that is too much to go in to on here and the house and acreage had to be put up for auction. :he Didn't stay in family. Anyway, new people moved in, kept to themselves, all was ok. Those people got kicked out and new people moved in. Those are the current residents. I like them for the most part. I just wish they'd be more considerate to those of us living down here when it comes to taking care of their animals. We call them to round up their animals. Or we shoo them out ourselves. We've talked to them. We get excuses about how they're trying. It's like a broken record stuck in a loop. I think we are going to fence in MOST of our property in our front yard. The goats usually get run off before they make it over to us and it won't help my father in law much but it is something that we're wanting to do anyway. My father in law is kind of stuck because he is on disability and has a fixed income. We do what we can and help out but still. Is just frustrating. :rant It all could be avoided tho if they'd take care of their :duc animals! :smack

I get ahead of myself sometimes and I should clarify. They will make it to our property but it's kind of on the edge. We've usually shooed them away before they get too comfortable and make it to our front field/yard. They have to go thru my father in law's area before getting to us. I'm just worried that getting the law involved (which he threatens to do) will just make our living situations worse. It's so freaking complicated! :barnie

That does sound frustrating! If they don’t get their animals under control then I would personally tell them they have until X amount of days until you call it in. Eventually someone/thing will get hurt because of the animals being allowed to free-roam like that. What if your FIL was taken down by a buck? Make them realize that they will have repercussions, because right now all they are getting is a light scolding and it’s not doing much.

That's true. I didn't think about that. I keep saying that I am going to go talk to someone about what exactly the laws are and what my rights are etc. Not to get the law involved but for education purposes. I understand that the laws are mainly in place to protect farms and farmers but surely there are instances where reasonable responsibility and negligence become factors as well. I need to know where those lines are. And we're probably going to have some tough talks in the future. It's a really nice day today in TN so the animals are more active and wanting to enjoy it.

Dear Kiki,
Why in the world are you playing poke-quail? I thought it was funny when people started playing poke-chicken - Gotta Hatch them All! If you do get the complete set, will the goals change? Will you put them in a flower press to be preserved? Hang them on your wall? They will surely clash with your decor. Or have a taxidermical display on your "not-a-coffee" coffee table? Tastefully done, of course.

I do appreciate the basic bird. No genetics to follow. Basic brown. Goes with everything. Especially, a good gravy. They all look a like. Like minions. A whole herd of minions.

In summary, when are we ordering eggs? :D

Quail trainer wanna be.
When will your eggs be hatching? I'd like to place an order on Feb 16th.

I have actual nightmares about my teeth crumbling. I take excellent care of them, but I don't go to the dentist often. I didn't go for eleven years once and I only had a start of a cavity on one tooth.
Teeth, people! BRUSH THEM. FLOSS THEM.
Have you chewed on them in your dreams?
I wake up checking my mouth.

From wiki
har·lot [ˈhärlət] NOUN archaic
  1. a prostitute.
    synonyms:
prostitute · call girl · sex worker · promiscuous woman · fille de joie · demimondaine · pro · tail · brass nail · tom · woman on the game · working girl · floozie · moll · hooker · hustler · tart · streetwalker · woman of the streets · woman of the night · scarlet woman · loose woman · fallen woman · woman of easy virtue · cocotte · hussy · grande horizontale · member of the oldest profession · strumpet · courtesan · trollop · wanton · woman of ill repute · lady of pleasure · doxy · drab · quean · trull · wench
I cannot believe they labeled this as archaic. Moll is one I don't recognize. Floozie is common. Cocotte is high fashion. Trollop must be the total opposite of an internet troll.

We welcome all kinds here. Some more than others.
:gig Thank you for that glorious list of synonyms.

I love everything about this post.

Now I feel dirty for knowing what it meant.

Just means you are well read and have a large vocabulary.

It is true, friend Banty! Listen to Nutty and be proud!
Or that you know Conan.

I've never once been paid. Not once! A real oversight, if you ask me.
