➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

It's like they see it and go, Hmmm...Does that move? *touch, touch* Oh I think it does. *pat, pat* Ha! Look I am moving this thing. *pat, pat push* Oh look, it's down there now. Oooh, what's that thing?
And then they move on to something else.
Exactly! Our cat is 17 years old but you’d never guess it. He still does everything a young cat does, especially knocking papers off the counter for fun.

Reddi whip?? Chocolate things??? :barnie Kiki is gonna whoop you girl.

Hey, reddi whip is pretty low calorie and I like to put it on the pudding and hot chocolate lol and yes, I have been wanting chocolate lol and yes I know  but to be fair, almost all of the stuff I got was on sale, hence why I got so much too cause it was “two for... *cheaper price* type deals and I walked by it. Originally though I was just going to get chips to go with my tuna melt I was gonna make but then I got a little carried away while walking by all the stuff and especially when I saw all the stuff on sale  but we have no snacks and I have been really wanting snacks and dessert lol but I think I got a little carried away. Like I didn’t need to get all the puddings. They weren’t even on sale but I love their rice pudding and wanted to try the tapioca and compare it and then the whipped cream, we have been out for a while and I’ve been wanting more and it was right there, and then the eclairs were def a mistake cause I walked by it and saw the big $3 label and couldn’t resist lol and then also in that bag is a big chocolate chip muffins cause the muffins at this store are DELICIOUS. They make them there. Couldn’t resist. I also had not eaten yet so was very hungry. And I also didn’t even end up eating the chips with my sandwich lol and also, I originally wanted to buy some fruit or spinach but didn’t think I had enough money (I used cash) but then I ended up buying all junk... whoops.... oh well I guess.

I got my first Legbar egg today :wee It’s a nice pretty blue! :celebrate I also got a brown egg from I think our New Hampshire pullet but I can’t tell which one it is from the others.

I only buy healthy organic food.... and I raise a lot of my food.... I don't eat processed food.. just real whole foods....

That makes sense then. Sort of. Isn’t the organic stuff more expensive? You can buy the good stuff for only $20? You must have good/cheap grocery stores there. Ours are so expensive :hit and I don’t have anything growing atm. But I have had a garden the last 2 years but so far just tomatoes and peppers although last year I also had lettuce and eggplant and pumpkins. But this year the garden is going to be huge and wayyyy more vegetables. I am trying a bunch of new veggies this year. So I should be able to save some money and eat healthier with all the veggies I will be growing lol I really should cut out processed foods though. Or at least way reduce it. The processed foods definitely add up. That was like $33  even with most of it on sale. Granted that store is more expensive than some others around but still. I shopped hungry and also let my eyes guide me (i.e. oh look! *grab*) bad idea. But I also haven’t had any dessert in forever and “had” to have it, idk craving or something? So then I went crazy and just got a bunch of different desserts. Which is also bad cause I had boston cream filled cake and a piece of cheesecake for dessert cause my mom got both for my dad’s birthday  and we also don’t have any animals besides the chickens so we don’t grow our own meat or have milk cows or goats or anything or fruit so I have to buy some stuff and the meat adds up too. Didn’t buy any this time but we don’t grow our own. I wanted to this year but I don’t think I would be able to handle it. Also we have 3 people so this food isn’t just for me. Granted, I was thinking only of myself when I bought it, but it will get eaten. But we are weird. We don’t really do big shops anymore or tell anyone when we are going. We all just go and buy a bunch of random crap. We really need to stop all the random 50000 trips and making lists and waiting and doing big shops cause that cuts down on some of the impulse buying too.

I can see all these :p

Anyway, I do drink water all the time. All I drink is water. But that said, sometimes I don’t drink anything for hours and then chug a bunch all at once. Been working on drinking it slower and taking smaller sips more frequently so it gets absorbed and not just peed out. But I don’t drink anything else usually. And what is A1C?

But I have had blood work I think just a few months ago or at least pretty recently, def the last 6 months to 1 year. Not sure the exact date. I gotta check. But I had the physical and I had a few other appointments and I think they checked it again. It was still slightly high but not diabetic yet.

As for bedtime, that’s somewhat early for me. I used to stay up way later and some nights I stay up till 3 or 4 but last night I went to bed decently early, at least for me. I don’t wake up until 10:30 so that’s enough sleep for me, I am a night owl and on a slightly different schedule. If I go to bed too early, then I either can’t sleep cause I’m not used to being in bed so early and/or I wake up too early/am tired all day from it. Although this morning I woke up at 8:30 and fell back asleep until 10:30. I sometimes don’t sleep that well anyway I guess. I think it’s the pillows or the fact that I drink a ton of water before bed. But anyway, last night I went off from like 5:30 until 7:30 and ate then too so it was kind of thrown off cause usually I stay home all night so I somewhat started using the iPad later so that threw it off a little bit but I still went to bed relatively early and I even avoided a midnight snack like I usually have because I was still really full from dinner and I also wanted to go to bed early and not have to stay up 3 hours like I would having a big meal, so I specifically avoided eating at night and just went upstairs. And I also had a super productive morning and didn’t use my iPad once until now so I think it clearly is working for me lol I got up when the alarm went off instead of laying there for forever like usual and I made the decision to get dressed first before I ever even left my room (usually I go to the bathroom when I get up then get dressed but decided I should just get dressed first), went to the bathroom, then went downstairs, fed the chickens (food is inside for now as I need to clean the feed container so I had to go outside to get the bowl, which was tipped over and empty, bring it inside, fill it up, then bring it back outside and put it back out there), started making my own breakfast, went downstairs to check the cat’s food (she was begging for a can but turns out she has plenty of dry food so I told her no lol she only gets fed at night but was pretty pushy so I thought for sure maybe dry was empty. Nope. Just a manipulative kitty LOL didn’t work. Almost did until I realized she had plenty of food), put the egg shells outside, all while my breakfast is cooking and yes I kept checking it, finished making my own breakfast and ate it, then went upstairs and brushed my teeth, and left, because I had put my shoes on during this time too. So I had the most productive morning yet so I don’t think time affects it that much lol now, when I stay up much later than 1:30 or 2, then I start getting kind of tired/feeling weird and have a bad sleep and less productive, but before then, is totally normal for me and doesn’t affect me. And on days when I don’t have to work, I usually sleep later anyway. But I guess I should probably start trying to go to bed a little earlier just because I would like to try getting up a little earlier, but the current bedtime, really doesn’t affect me. That said, I was oddly still a few minutes late, but I stayed late so it worked out but it’s just kind of annoying considering I had the best morning ever yet was still a tad late (5-10 mins). I think what got me was I spent a few mins reading the feed bag and also checking the cat food. I think if I didn’t do that, I would have been on time. Or maybe just avoided feeding the chickens. They had a little bit of food on ground, could have left it and fed after, since I was barely at work, but oh well. I think those little 5-10 mins of distraction add up and I would have been on time had I not had them. BUT. I did not use the iPad at all this morning. Didn’t even check it once. At all. And left it at home instead of bringing it with me. So there is that. I think that is good at least. I cannot blame the iPad for this morning. But I think I should have just gotten ready and not taken care of the chickens or I should have not eaten breakfast and eaten after considering the job is pretty short. Or could have not brushed my teeth since no one is there and it’s a short job. Or if I hadn’t eaten, I would have had no need to brush my teeth. And probably should have left earlier rather than a few mins after I am supposed to be there. Should have stopped eating my breakfast and ran out the door when I saw the time. Lots of woulda shoulda couldas but I stayed 15 mins later to make up for it so it is okay for today. But for tomorrow and next week and all the other jobs, I am going to work on being there ON TIME or even early. But this morning was still super productive and I had a heathy breakfast (3 egg omelette from my own eggs with American cheese. Wanted to add spinach but had none. And some goat milk yogurt with honey. Out of berries too. And had some elderberry syrup cause I was filling a bit sick. And of course and big huge glass of water.) so I am making progress in some areas at least. Going backwards in some areas but making progress in other areas. I also let the chickens out around 12:20, 12:30 when I got back because they were just laying in the coop and also they have been getting pretty fat lately because they keep doing that almost all day so I wanted them to get some exercise LOL

Oh wow that’s a lot of people! I definitely need to work on my timeliness/promptness/punctuality but I am at least starting to make some progress in other areas too. But for me it’s not really so much the no schedule/doing what I want thing (even though I said that and the other stuff yesterday and I know you are just giving an example of what happens to ppl like that), as much as time management. Like, I’m not purposely late or thinking that a job or being on time doesn’t matter or anything, I just usually either have a hard time get going or I make poor choices. Like deciding to eat breakfast and feed all the animals this morning when I should have just left and wasting those extra few minutes reading the feed bag and washing my hands a few times etc. all that little shit would have added up to me being on time possibly. But of course I also just need to plan better, like I should have left well before I was supposed to be there. But I just tend to make dumb choice AND also I just move/do things really slow and take forever doing them, so it usually adds up to being late. But I need to work on it. Sometimes with the one job, I’m like oh it’s family so it doesn’t really matter/she doesn’t really care because I stay for hours anyway and they’re still super tired, but it does matter. Granted, it’s probably true she doesn’t care, but it’s still rude. I do try to be on time to the non family one but I should just try to be on time or early to both. Especially when we only live 2 miles from both. And it is good practice for if I ever get more clients or even a real/regular job. I can’t be late to every single one and then just go oh I’m just really slow getting ready/always running late.
A1C is a 30 day average of your blood sugar. It gives you an idea how high or low your sugars are running. For your age group a score of 6 to 6.5 would be normal. Higher means the diet needs to be tweaked and exercise should be increased.

How cool is that!

Need a camera hook up to a Nerf to shoot them when you're gone... they party hardy on the counters whenever you're gone:lol:
Lily would just eat the nerf balls.she can destroy a tennis ball in 5 minutes.

We lost Gertrude ...found her this morning. She had no external injuries from the owl attack and appeared fine that night. But over the past several days she has looked weak. Checked for a broken egg inside, then gave her a penicillin shot just in case. She roamed with her flock until yesterday. The fog and cold got to her. She looked a little ratty.
I put Gertrude in the tub to warm up and bathe. Then dried her and fed her. She was restless in the house so I put her back with her "people". She was in the middle of the group in the duck coop when I found her.

Thanks. Would that test automatically be included in normal bloodwork or do you have to ask for it?

You have to request the A1C.
And my sugar was still a little high. I think like a year ago, maybe even two years  they said it was a little high/prediabetic but not diabetic and I still never changed anything and in fact have gotten worse with my diet
If you don't change your life style you are going to become diabetic. The medicines can be very expensive. The threat of losing body parts to gangrene and going blind are real.
