I don't even know the technical birthdays of my dogs unless I get a reminder on my phone from the vet sending them Happy Birthday Wishes. I'm a bad doggie momma I guess . But I give them treats just whenever as surprises or buy them toys randomly out of the blue so I don't feel tooooo bad.

Well, it doesn’t really cause any digestive issues but I’ve read cutting it can help with sinuses. Some people cured it by cutting it I think for like a month. Even some people with chronic sinus stuff. So I want to at least try it.

And huh, interesting. Never knew that. Did eat lots of carbs at dinner last night (we went out) but I was starting to have issues before that. I think I’m just getting sick or something because now today my throat is kinda scratchy and my nose stuffed up. And the chest thing of course. I think I just overworked myself and maybe caused myself to be sick, idk.

That’s true! And the first night it went from like high 40s, low 50s during the day to like 30s that night so like a 10-15 degree drop so that could have contributed and then yesterday and today were 30s. I am sure that and lack of sleep is all it is cause I am feeling a bit better now. I think I need to take better care of myself lol especially since yesterday I was running up and down hills and down the driveway and stuff with the dogs lol

I have a 9 acre ranch with livestock and a garden. I lived off minimal income for awhile and this is how I did it! Wrote this myself for anyone needing help cutting dollars.

1) Learn your grocery stores and their costs. You will pretty much buy the same goods for years to come. Learn the costs, remember how much your cottage cheese, chicken and beef are. It adds up very fast.

2) DO.NOT.USE money loaning services or loan advances under any circumstances!!!! If you get a loan for $250 you will have to repay $500. I know people that use this service every week. It’s a joke. It’s not a deal. This is foolish.

3) When grocery shopping I do many things. I buy in bulk. Like 25# of flour is only $8.95 and my sugar is $14. I buy rice in bulk too. You’d be surprised how many healthy and fulfilling meals you can do with rice. Bulk is your best friend and will save you sometimes up to 60%. Also keep in mind, its not like you are only eating flour, sugar and rice once – you have another 50yrs of buying this stuff – so stock up!

4) Sales and grocery ads. When canned tomato sauce goes on sale for .33 cents each. Buy 20! When boneless, skinless chix breast is on sale for $1.65 # buy 20! Take it home and re wrap into smaller portions and freeze. Also if your groc store price matches, skim through all the ads. Now this is a little tricky and I can not stress this enough. You save money when you buy in bulk. So if that ad allows you to buy butter at $1.99 lb… again BUY AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!

5) Stay away from Walmart, Safeway, Vons, Albertsons They are VERY costly.

6) Kroger, Winco, FoodCo, Foodmax and Grocery Outlet are winners. I know some of you have been conned into thinking Walmart is your low price leader – They are not. I promise you. In fact, I will make a wager with you and can prove it. They are nearly 30% more in food cost. I say this with 10+ ys of price matching, penny pitching and remembering the cost of every single item I buy – from every store around me. THEY.ARE.EXPENSIVE. Now, you want a pair of $10 yoga pants, sure then go. Maybe a gallon of milk? Go for it. But for the love of all that is good, do not buy your monthly supplies from there if you need your money to stretch.

7) Use cruise control – it saves you gas!

8) When you leave the house, make multiple trips. Do not leave the house for a doz eggs and go home. Do multiple things and make it a round trip. Gas is expensive and so is your time.

9) Stop buying new things when your old stuff works just fine. This is a life saver.

10) Eat what you have, not what you want. Believe me – I can make a sows ear into a purse with next to nothing.

11) Need a good wardrobe? Ross! Shirt, pants and brand name shoes for $45! It takes a minute to sort through but believe me, you’ll come out looking sharp and sexy! Keep in mind they buy from Macy, JC Penny and other big box stores.

12) Stop “treating yourself”. You don’t need stuff to make yourself feel better. You don’t need a new purse every couple months or nails for that fact. Chances are you feel like crap because you're broke and disappointed. With that in mind. Lower your expectations for what you “think” your world should look like. If your house is clean, furnished, foods on the table and your kids are happy and behaved – you’re doing better than most. Be grateful and proud. All the purses and fake nails can’t make up for being a bad parent, partner or human. If you want to “treat” yourself. Find happiness in things that give you a sense of self that goes beyond the tangible. Things are a temporary fix. Who you are will supersede that.

13) You really don’t need AC unless you live in a humid area. I live where it hits 110 all through summer and all I have to do is open windows and put fans in front of the window until morning. At 9am I remove all fans and close up all windows and doors. It stays a sweet and cool 70 degrees ALL DAY!!!! Buy blackout curtains if you want to do this – and you can get those at Ross for $13 for 2 panels. (I wouldn't have believed it myself, had someone told me either)

14) When washing clothes, use cold water. If need be just turn the hot water off at the washer to be sure no one turns it onto a hot wash.

15) Dry your clothes on the line. There is no conceivable reason you shouldn’t. Line dry takes less than an hr of dry time in the summer. It cost .33 cents a load in gas to dry! Add that up for a month!

16) For trash service, get the smallest can. Burn your paper products in an old wash bin. My trash is 50% less and I don’t need a big can anymore. That saved me $10 month right there!

17) Make your laundry detergent. Its easy and makes enough for a few months. If you can make a meatloaf, you can make laundry detergent. Its 3 ingredients and it out cleans Tide by a mile! It cost me .06 cents a load verses .21 cents for Tide.

18) When you buy dish soap, again buy big. And watch the ads for that sale price so you can get 2! My Dawn dish soap cost about $3 for the reg size. But if I buy the larger one is only $6 and is 3x the size. Imagine getting that at $4 on sale and buying 3????? This all adds up remember!

19) Buy Scott toilet paper. I’ve done rounds with people over this. And I’ve done multiple case studies with all the other brands. This is the one that outlasts time wise and cost the least. Angle soft is a shit deal, literally and figuratively. You will use one roll in one day with a family of 4. Again, buy the big pckg. And watch those ads.

20) Don’t buy gas at any gas station. Convenience is not your friend. Get gas only at the place that is within your budget.

21) Even if you don’t “need to” save money because money is good. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. The day will come when money is tight.

22) When invited to eat out with friends. Unless they specify, I assume they mean “come over and eat”. I respond excitedly with “wonderful, I have a few amazing dishes I can’t wait to share with you”! This minimizes going out and also prevents others from knowing my financial struggles.

23) For the Walmart lovers, you can defiantly use them for pharmacy stuff. This is where they are a leader.

24) Pet services? You can vaccinate your dogs and cats for distemper, parvo and a couple other things and its only $9 at the feed store. If you can hit the broad side of a barn and read – this is a fantastic thing. A vet visits is $65, not including the vaccine.. Also buy a bottle of penicillin and have that on hand for respiratory infections and major cuts or lesions on your animals. I’ve been doing this for yrs with no issues whatsoever! Also, taking your dog to the shampooers? Get a pair of clippers from the discount store, put a clip on and 10min later you got a pretty snazzy dog. No one really looks at your dogs haircut and thinks that highly of you, because of it. This is a facade that can go. Really, no one’s paying attention.

25) Watch craigslist free stuff and set an alert to hit your phone when something pops up. I’ve gotten many very expensive and much needed items this way and my only cost was gas to get there. Some things I can turn around and sell.

26) Keep Goodwill and Salvation Army as a 2nd option. Many of those things can be bought brand new from a traditional store for penny’s more. Source a fair thrift shop that values its customers and its objective. More often than not yard sales and swap meets are where you real bargains are at!

27) Half and half is milk and cream. Make it. It costs ½

28) Take care of your things. Longevity is free.

29) Do you garden? Seeds expensive? Go to seed swaps. They’re free. You’ll have a garden for next to nothing if you do this. Just look up “seed swap” in your areas.

30) There’s nothing you can’t get at a yard sale.

31) Stop buying Starbucks. $5 for a cup of coffee? C’mon now, this not only wasteful but an obvious one.

32) Quite being a marketing demographic and consumer. Keep in mind what you are being sold and the source. With over 10yrs in marketing and advertising, I can tell you with confidence. 90% of what you are told is utter B.S.

33) Cleaning your car get expensive? Buy a shop vac at a yard sale. I vacuum my car 2x a month and it cost me $5 each time. I got a shop vac at a yard sale for $20. I use it now for everything.

34) Diapers kicking your budgets butt? Cloth girl! It’s not anymore time consuming than throw always and are damn near free!!! Let’s not forget its better all-around for everyone. If need be, just have the disposables for when you leave the house.

35) Pet food bought in bulk is also 40% less in cost. Buy it in 25lb bags or more!

36) Make lists! You can’t save money if you’re not organized.

37) Bread can be frozen and so can butter. When those go on sale. Stock up!!

38) If you are on state aid, utilize all the resources. Once a year they will pay up to $300 for your gas or electric. All it requires is filling out a couple pieces of paper.

39) I never throw away napkins from a to go order. Into the glove compartment they go.

40) I rarely eat out, if at all.

41) Learn to cook! Sushi rolls are $8-$10. It’s as easy as making a burrito and it only cost me $2!!!

42) By not eating out you also limit your chances of getting sick. Do you know how many dirty hands touched that taco before I got to you??? Too many! Getting sick costs money!

43) Kick cable to the curb and get Netflix. Besides, none of need TV nor do our kids. Internet has plenty of information, videos and movies. Really, it does!

44) Be your own advocate! Stop relying and being dependent on people, places and things. Read, research and try to remember how our grandparents did it. Knowledge goes very far. What you think is time consuming, isn’t. Working 40hrs plus to pay other people what you can do for yourself is what is costing you. Learn a little. Learn to cook, learn to garden, learn to patch a hole, learn to use a tool. You are not a victim to your things.

45) Floss your teeth. Repairing and replacing teeth is as expensive as buying a car.

46) Stop using your ATM card. If you need something, go to the bank and keep a little cash on hand. It will prevent you from over spending. Start using cash over your card. You’re paying a lot in fees every month as well as the merchant to use that card. Why should you give 10% of your purchase on EVERYTHING you buy to a credit card company??? Really, every purchase, for doing nothing. That should make you red mad at how easy they take your money.

47) Fluctuate in weight and find yourself having to buy a new bra all the time? Get clasp extenders. Cost $6 for 2. They’ll last you forever and it makes buying bras much easier.

48) Utility companies give a monthly discount to qualifying families and households. Use it! Can save you up to 30% on your monthly bill.

49) Stop buying prepackaged meals. Cut apples, fruit salad, potato salad and etc. … Cost me $1 to make a 3# tub of potato salad at the store is $2.99 lb!!!

50) When you go grocery shopping, if money is really tight and you have a hard time controlling yourself. Don’t get a basket. Only get what you can carry. You’ll learn the hard way before you know it.

51) Cover your chairs with a sheet when no one is visiting. You’ll have to clean less, worry less and replace your chairs and couches less.
