➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I like the name Agatha. Just because I like names that aren't common or you don't hear very often. I'm weird like that. You can call her Aggie. Or just name her Aggie instead of Agatha.
According to wikipedia: Agatha also Agata, is a feminine given name derived from the Ancient Greek word ἀγαθός (agathos), meaning good.

Ok, Elvis is being a snot! :rant I just don't get it. If I'm out there puttering around, often he will stay close near me. He'll watch me as he forages....give me a little side eye. He's not cuddly.... he has taken to trying to charge my leg or come up behind me and peck the back of my leg. Not every time I am around but it sure seems more often here as of late. Well, I was just out there checking for eggs and as I was walking back I noticed him following me at my left side. I stopped walking for a second and looked at him. He stopped as well and I told him "don't you even try it". I go to start walking again. He walks again and goes for my leg.
I was watching him tho so I turned in time and lifted my foot/leg up and sent him flying.:smack Which sounds really bad but it wasn't super strong or anything. Just enough pressure to get his attention and boot him away. Then I go to walk towards him and he takes off running away from me. I keep walking towards him and basically chase (which sounds more aggressive than it was because I was only walking) him around the yard. The only saving grace for him is he is little. ... I so can't wait until my new girls get here! :barnie

Side note:
Maybe it is the time of the year because my drake Noah is being a snot as well. :smack He has been being a little more aggressive towards me. Trying to keep me from entering the duck area etc. Some ducks have a "peak breeding season" and I am wondering if we are getting close to the official beginning of it. I think I read for Mallards it is the "end of winter/beginning of March to July".
2nd Side note: I saw Bowie dig up a worm and tidbit to the girls. Amber came running over and he moved away and let her get it. I told him he was being a good boy and doing a good job by his girls! I just thought it was sweet.:love
Yep, Spring is right around the corner. Keep after Elvis and Noah.
In about a month duck hens will begin to lay their clutch and often will incubate in time for a spring hatch. Drakes become very protective.

Whenever you are out in the yard, purposely walk through Elvis. Stomping helps as it gets the point across. Negan would full on flog me for a long while, but I finally had enough and chased him around for over 30 minutes without letting him have a break. Then I kept making sure that whenever I was out in the yard that I purposely would try to step on him and get him to move out of the way. Do the same with Noah. You may have to be rough, but that’s fine. They deserve it if they are being snot heads.
Amen!

But Bunny sucks.
Can I just pretend her name is something else?

Who names a dog Bunny?
:th
Let's see if we can find out Tessie's dog's real name!
Can the shelter get any vet records on the dog? Rabies shots are given when other care isn't. Often a dog has a rabies tag with a number to be traced. Part of the ID has the location for the vet's clinic. The vet might be able to give the dog's name and history without revealing the name of the previous owner.
When we adopted Ruby Rose, we were given a copy of her medical records. We went thru PetSmart when adopting her.

Epi have you told us this real name before? It's not ringing my bell.

She’s told us about Stephanie, but not Epi. Epiphania is an awesome name.
While I'll answer to either, my name is in English. My grandfather suggested Epiphania, but my mother gave me the English translation. I'm the first person in both sides of my family to be born in the United States and my mother wanted to make sure to give me a "proper" name. She's struggled with having a different name (Nidia) and didn't want us kids to face the same.
My little sister got an English name too (Carolyn), but brother was the only one to, not just get a Spanish name, but one that runs in the family (Jose Miguel).

Oh my gosh we love her.

She was pretty wound up and distracted at the shelter but who can blame her? It’s a stressful place for a dog. But she’s gorgeous and was fine with us mushing her face, touching her mouth and feets, etc.. seems like she might be a little bit of an escape artist though.

Tomorrow we’re taking old man Triumph to meet her and if all goes well she’s coming home with us. We’ll have a 3 week grace period to see if she’s a good fit in our home and the rest is history.

Oh yea, definitely renaming her.
You could name her Hazel. After the main character of Watership Down, technically a bunny name.
I bet she'll love your old boy. Very exciting time! High fives for new dogs, especially Texas pound dogs.

Sure you can call her anything you want.... doesn't mean she will respond... makes life easier if you don't have to teach her a new name
She may not know her name anyway, like you said, the shelter may have given it to her.
I'm surprised any of my dogs know their names. Wasabi probably thinks his name is either 'Flat Face' or 'What is in your mouth? drop it, drop it'.

I suck at coming up with names. It takes me forever. I kind of like Aurora tho. I showed the picture to my son and he's all, "Oh look at the doggo! What a cute doggo" I said, we're trying to come up with a name for her. It's a girl. He said, "I like Daisy". I said, "she said that she like's unique names that have meaning." He goes, "It means flower." He's such a sarcastic snot! He cracks me up!
Your son is hilarious, that made me laugh out loud.

I’m not much for school spirit. :gig

This might be my favorite idea so far. :love I’m definitely proposing this to hubby.

If they get along, do you bring her home tomorrow?

Nope. :( If she had a rabies tag then it probably could’ve been traced back to the owner. She was brought in as a stray with no tags and no microchip.
IF we keep her and IF we just so happen to find a name that she already seems to know, then we’ll definitely go with that.

Yes ma’am! Then we have a 3 week period where we can see how she fits in our home and take her back with no questions asked if there’s a problem.
I’m most concerned with separation anxiety, overly intense prey drive (for IV’s sake), and her escape artist tendencies.

Legitimate concerns, all.

Her escape artist tendencies may mean she left an empty collar with tags on a chain in her old yard. She might need/benefit from a halter.
Sure hope the introductions go nicely and you bring this darling home!
