➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I don't care how much I love my ducks. I don't care how much I love my chickens. I would NEVER EVER have either as a house pet. Diapers or not. I don't know how anyone can do so. :sick

I had one in the living room all winter last year
but she was a hawk attack victim, pic is from a month after the attack
just sat there all winter before she got some of her wits back

It takes a good deal of insanity and cleaning time.
Crates make it easier.
Oh I brood mine in the house. Probably longer than is necessary but I like having them around and I don't mind the daily cleanings. Even my ducks I didn't mind. I thought we were talking about like free roaming with a diaper living in the house. That's what I meant anyway.

Informal poll, when I ordered chicks, I went to the PO near work and got their "will call" address and had the chicks delivered to THEM. Letty called me promptly at 7AM to say come get the package. Intend to do again next time. Eggs, chicks and other important stuff. Too much disappears from the mailbox route.

Since this is available everywhere in the States (Batty is out at the north pole and I don't know if there is a PO on her way to the toy workshop), make use of it.

You also get to meet some interesting postal employees who love chicks. Saves the chicks the time in the mail truck and weather.

Does anyone else use the will call? Why not?

Awww, bless her heart! So glad that you were able to bring her in and take care of her until she recovered. Hawks can wreak such havoc! Glad she survived!

Yeah. That takes the dedication that a toddler requires.

This is the very first time that I ordered chicks, or any other live animal, via online. I didn't know anything about a will call. I went down to my local PO to see if I needed to do anything special since I would be receiving an order of chicks in. The woman basically looked at me like I was dumb and told me that they would call me. I said, ok, do I need to fill anything out and give you my number or anything. Again that blank stare and said, everything we need to know will come from the place that you ordered from. I left feeling like I was overly worrying. I don't know what to expect. I'm going to be a nervous wreck next week until I have them in my possession. I don't drive Nashville very often, and I am assuming that is where I would have to go. The traffic is awful! I will wait for them to come to my local PO.
