Catching up after missing yesterday because of sister's surgery...shoulder repair.

I’m a 280# man. I don’t think I’d look too flattering in yoga pants

My hubby wears jeans in public but works around the farm in comfortable sweat pants. He is 250#, 5' 8".

Not tugging or anything. Gently wiped around it with a wet washcloth. Then ended up sticking her bum under lukewarm running water to get off a stuck piece of poo. The brooder is definitely not too warm so I am good there. I wasn't sure if the hatchery would or not if something were to happen to the chick but I thought I would ask just in case. I don't have any Prep H but I will go to the store and get some here in a bit. I was trying to look up prolapsed vent on here and one post I read said something about cortisone cream so we put a smidge of that on in the meantime. The others I have noticed are pecking at it so I am watching that as well. I've gotten her to sip a little nutri-drench as well just for good measure. My poor baby!

Ok, we got the Prep H ointment. We put it on her once yesterday. Checked her this morning and it's still protruding but looks a wee bit better to me. We rinsed and dried her off well and put more on her. How often do we do this? Once a day? A couple times a day? 3 times a day? I happened to be watching them and I saw her poop. It looked like a normal, healthy poop to me so we are good on that front. She's still eating and drinking and flapping around like the others. Their wings are feathering out nicely and a few are already getting little stubs and tail feathers coming in. The dark brown EE has so much fluff on its face that it is up around its eyes.

I gotta say, this one is one of my favorites. I mean, look at that face!

Picked up 21 duck eggs this morning....notice the fart egg!
The bottom two are chicken eggs for comparison...a jumbo and a medium sized.

With all these duck eggs, last night I made a Deviled duck egg sandwich spread/dip for veggie sticks or crackers.

Hubby liked it and ate a sandwich with soup for dinner. Caught him later with Ritz crackers and a dipping bowl.

I've also been boiling duck eggs for the chickens. Guess I'm going to have to thin out the hens in the duck flock....and with 44 ducklings to hatch soon.... Duck math is as infectious as chicken math.

Going out to the garden to plant peas and onions, then will work on the pens and coops for a while.

The present report indicates that rabies is a disease that can affect birds. Lack of obvious clinical signs and fewer opportunities for diagnostic laboratory testing of suspected rabies in a bird, may be the reason for the disease in these species being undiagnosed and probably underestimated. The locality of the bird in the present case is highly endemic for rabies [12] and the presence of an easily accessible diagnostic facility may be the reason the disease could be identified in poultry. Most often birds succumb due to shock or complication of animal bite injury and may not survive until the development of clinical rabies infection.
