Urgh I’m wondering what your Andalusian is mixed with...as that’s not how the blue gene works. She should be all gray, black, or white with black/gray patches. Not black with gray patches. :barnie
I hope your school mess works out for you.

I’m not even worrying about it now, it’s too much stress to add. Finals start on Monday, last research paper is due tomorrow, so I’m in full-blown work mode. :caf I’m still waiting on my researcher/mentor to reach out for the summer program, and everyone else has already found out who their mentors are, and what they’re doing for the summer.

Edited for incorrect there/their/they’re

Riley is doing great! She's decided that she wants to stay awake until 1:00a.m. everyday when for the first few days she sleep all the time, so that took her mom awhile to get used to. We were laughing at my brother because Riley anointed him when he feed her yesterday and then when he was changing her diaper, she projectiles pooped on him!:lau

What kind of Caribbean have you tried? They are not all the same. Dominican food is the best! I know I'm biased. But, I don't care for Jamaican food. It's too spicy.
Chubs is almost a year old:th

My Easter hatch along eggs were due to hatch Sunday, but they are already popping out of the shells!

And I've been working in the garden today. First I transplanted tomato seedlings in to grow pots..168.
The pepper seedlings are seeded in individual pots so they won't need to be transplanted until ready to go directly in the garden. They are just now coming up.
Then I planted out the zucchini and crook neck squash plants in half the bed. Will clean out the rest of this bed and plant the straight neck and the butternut squash tomorrow.
Then finished prepping the cucumber bed and set out the cucumber and cantaloupe plants that were up in their seed pots.

I know. I’m kind of confused too. At times she looked dark grey and at other times she looks black. I just know that her feathers have only recently started changing. I am not familiar with the breed except what I read on the Meyer Hatchery website. I guess it’s a good thing that I’m not trying to breed Andalusians.

I missed this post earlier today.

I don't think Jasmine's feathers are suppose to look like that.
She might have that frizzle thing going on.
Or sizzle or what ever it's called.

Sizzle is silkie/frizzle, but I agree on frizzled feathers
I was worried that it wasn’t normal. To the extent that I was even trying to look on the website to look to see if maybe I was given a frizzled Cochin instead of a bcm or something. But I know nothing about cochin so I figured I was just being worried for nothing. I was going to specifically ask about her feathers in here when I asked if anyone had and bcm’s but no one responded and again, I just felt like I was making much ado about nothing. I thought maybe it’s just the downy feathers underneath that’s causing the top feathers to be funky. Or maybe I just got a pitiful specimen of a bcm. Which sucks for the money I paid for her but... eh. We love her.

Can you email Meyer about them? I would be severely annoyed had they been my birds, especially the BCM because there is no guarantee that she’ll even lay dark eggs since she’s not full BCM and you paid for that specific breed.

PHOENIX – Virulent Newcastle disease has been found in an Arizona chicken flock for the first time since the outbreak began last year in California.

It’s been found in Arizona near Flagstaff in a backyard flock of eight birds, and tests show the strain is part of the Southern California outbreak.

Arizona state veterinarian Peter Mundschenk said the Department of Agriculture is working to find the source and keep it contained.

“It’s pretty much been in backyard birds, but they’ve had a couple spillovers into the commercial flocks in the areas,” he said. “That’s what we’re trying to prevent by having the surveillance zone so we don’t get the spread of the disease like California’s had.”

Mundschenk said they will keep looking in a 1 kilometer area around where the disease was found to locate the source. One source could be a chicken keeper – someone trying to protect birds from quarantine in California – who brought them to Arizona, Mundschenk said.....
