➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Forgot to post earlier but I moved the chicks outside this afternoon, right after lunch. :hit It is so hard to do but necessary as they have way outgrown their brooder even though just turned a week old yesterday. Double the size already. They grow up so fast. :hit

Now I just got home from trivia, left at like 6, so I am going to check on them. It just started pouring rain and I am so worried about them. I hope they found their way under the MHP :hit

My EE, Sunny, is continuing to be quite the adventurous stinker. She was out again tonight. They've been doing so good during the day but it has been quite warm here as of late. I think that once the sun starts going down, she wants to join all of the older chickens and try to catch bugs. I am sure that the grass looks greener through the fence for her. She definitely knows her name. I came out and called to her and she just came running. My gosh they are so flippin cute! :love Something else that I noticed today was my girl Purple. She's a Black Australorp. She is being funky. Not her normal foraging self. When I was checking on her tonight, she didn't run to greet me as I came in to the yard, nor did she get up to move away as I approached. She finally does get up and is walking slow.I go to check her out, she doesn't try to walk away. She's plucking her belly feathers. :he Dangit! Not another one. I'm like, good grief, are ya'll going to take turns now or something?!? And for yesterday and today, I only got 4 eggs each day. Out of 8 chickens! We've been getting 6-7 eggs. No one has been hanging out in the nest boxes for a long length of time... yet. I thought that the one BA that I had issues with trying to go broody finally gave up since she hasn't been trying to sit all day long. Now I may have more. :th I'll be keeping an eye on everyone. :barnie We finally got stuff planted in our garden. It's not everything that I wanted nor in the way that I wanted. I wanted to split stuff up in like raised bed sections. To try to have them in more manageable sections so I can take care of it better. But we are so behind. We'll see how it turns out. My little strawberry plant has a bunch of little strawberries growing. :ya I'm so excited.

Technically the cereal has way less sugar.... but then the ingredients are kind of gross... and I guess the milk counts towards the sugar content too... especially since I usually have WAY more than the serving size on everything so probably way more sugar... goes for the honey too. The ingredients on the cereal aren’t as bad as I thought though but is boxed really worse than real but sugar loaded? The option I decided on for myself is yogurt with honey and blueberries again or the cereal. The cereal seems like it wouldn’t be worse. But then again I guess the milk could cause sinus issues. Idk. :barnie It looks so tasty though.

Also went out tonight but what I got wasn’t bad.

I'm going to try to tan them. I saved the pelts from the first batch we butchered, but haven't had time to work on them, so they are sitting in the freezer.
I ordered a book on tanning hides on Amazon and then ordered a kit of tanning supplies and tanned a deer hide with the fur on for my SIL. Never tanned anything before...it turned out better than I thought it would.
Thinning the backside was the most tedious part of the project. I posted the process in the hobby section here on BYC when I did it.

@KDOGG331 you don't have to put milk on cereal. This morning, I sliced a banana, put two big spoons of maple flavor Greek yogurt on it, and sprinkled liberally with Grape Nuts. Protein, fruit, and grains all in one bowl. And Grape Nuts doesn't have added sugar...

Huh that’s a good idea!! Never thought of that. Not sure this cereal would taste good without milk but I might buy some of that other kind or I was thinking of maybe getting some granola or something to put on the yogurt. Do you think the cereal itself is a problem though too even if I didn’t put milk? Btw I did end up just having the yogurt, honey, and fruit though.
