➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

OMG Do you have a garden left?
They are really cute :love
The bunnies are fenced out of the garden. The garden looks pretty sad due to frosts on June 9 and 10. Most of the plants are starting to come back. The ones that aren't, I have seeds germinating in the greenhouse to replace them.

My mini dog haha she’s been laying next to me for a while, originally on the other side. :love

The cutest fluffer around.

The day before yesterday, we found a raccoon in the duck area. Going back on the camera we saw that it had been in there for at least 30 minutes. It climbed all up and on top of the coop, looking for a way to get in. Thankfully it couldn't. We set a trap last night and caught one. Hopefully that same one. Now tonight we have a baby opossum nosing around. Set a trap. It is taken care of now as well. This is the first time we have had, that we know of, any critter problems since we've had the chickens. Which has been a yr now. It's been an eventful past few days over here. :barnie
Never a dull moment!

Xena has been extremely interested in the nest today. At first I thought that she was just trying to lay an egg because we've had to remove her egg over the past couple of days. :barnie But today it seems to be more obsessive. She ends up nudging Annabelle off the nest so she can sit, with Annabelle sitting right next to her. Then Annabelle either nudges Xena off the same way or Xena gets up and Annabelle is right back on.

Time wise, we are about 1 week away from hatching. Is it possible that Xena knows this and is trying to help or is she thinking about going broody? If she is going broody, with the ducklings soon to be hatching, is it possible that that will satisfy her instinct or will it encourage it? I have so many questions. :idunnoNow Xena is back off and Annabelle is the only one on again. I watched her rearrange her eggs and settle back down.

Probably trying to go broody also. Should not be a problem. The eggs that hatch will have two mothers.

My two duck hens on the same nest hatched 5 but lost three. One got chilled just out of the egg. One was squashed and one got caught in the fencing. I collected all the eggs when the girls took the two babies out to forage.
When two hatched, I gave them to the moms in the evening...accepted nicely. One more egg hatched tonight and the last egg is pipped. Will give these to the moms.

I don't think you told us you got Street Foods...did you?

I really love your videos.
Oh yeah! Their names are Street & Food. Someone dropped them off for free last Saturday. They were wanting small little pet birds. The dropped off 2 giant cornish pullets too. They're only 2 months old and so heavy!
