View attachment 1878235 My sad little collection today! From 8 hens no less. Every one of these eggs is from my older birds. I've got two 1 year olds and neither has laid in days. A barred rock and a OE. The dang slackers! One again, those cackle hatchery EE are blowing everyone else out the water.
I haven't gotten eggs in ages. I've got some broodies and all of the girls are slipping their eggs under them. The chanteclers are already starting to molt. Sigh.

No.

Or Wyandotte...

I hard boil my older eggs and then crush them shells and all to feed back to my chickens. I have also scrambled them without the shell to feed back to the birds.

I do this too with my older egg
Store bought cucumbers are made of tears and ground up orphan boys. They're terrible.

Out of my 8, two are broody (also older hens) and like I said before the other two are just slackers. Although... they are between 1 and 1.5 so they may be getting ready to molt. That may be their problem. My eggs are just for my little fam tho, so at least we're covered.

Going to go get some stuff done outside because it is gorgeous and not very hot, only 70, high of 73, and the next few days are supposed to be 70s too, whereas next week is supposed to be high 80s, or at least the beginning of the week, so I should probably get something done outside while it’s not too hot here.

Also we have EEE and West Nile here so I can’t really go outside once it starts getting dark or before it gets light in the morning anymore so I gotta do stuff mid day unless I wear bug spray and even then it’s risky so should probably go outside now and then do some of the inside stuff at dusk.

There’s been one case around here so far this year of a human infected and some mosquitoes in the next town over tested positive for one of the bad diseases, forget which one, so dangerous to be out. And a few years ago there was a really really bad case and that person died. So just not safe.

Plus I should get some sunlight and fresh air anyway. :lau

Oh and also I do want to note that I think this is progress or at least a step in the right direction because I almost took off, yet again, and wasn’t gonna do anything I was planning, just to get away for a while, but then I thought.... I can just go outside. I can’t hear it outside. So that’s what I’m doing. Although now it’s calm but still going outside. And I plan on getting a lot done. There’s a lot of stuff I’ve been meaning to do out there but haven’t yet and have put off so now is the perfect time to do it. There’s enough to do that it should keep me busy for a good while at least. So I’ll be back later and update with what I got accomplished. Haha gonna leave the phone alone and/or inside too. It’s almost dead anyway.

Conference over. I’m exhausted.

I ended up with 13 hours for next semester. I was really scraping the bottom of the barrel for class options and missed out on some important stuff (microbiology... sigh), but all things considered it could be worse.
Biochemistry, Biomedical parasitology, Animal nutrition and feeding, and “Pathobiology diseases in the world.” Sounds fun, right?

Also signed up for a biomedical student association, so hopefully that will open networking opportunities and help me get some volunteer hours under my belt.
I badly need to get my foot in the door at a vet clinic.

This semester is going to be crazy. I’m pooped, but really excited. I have to keep reminding myself to breathe.
