I love dissections! I’m so jealous. :barnie I’ve done a fetal pig, is yours going to be a large pig?
No idea, I only saw it posted on the syllabus yesterday. It also has a scheduled field trip at the end of the semester. How cool is that?
Almost makes up for how boring my diseases class looks.

My biochemistry and parasitology syllabi haven’t been posted yet. I’m really curious to see what sort of labs the parasitology class will have.

I’m so jealous :hit I want a field trip! That sounds so fun.

I have organic chem, genetics (not gonna transfer but it’s just for my pleasure), micro and plane trig this semester. :tongue Then organic chem 2, physics 1 and pre-cal for spring with my physics 2 in the 1st semester for summer. Almost done with these smaller classes :weeor maybe I’ll see if physics 1 is available for the winter-mester and then take physics 2 in the spring.

I've dissected a fetal pig, nurse shark, frog, crawfish, worm, cow heart, sheep eye and my personal fave... A KITTY CAT! (Actually two cats! And not my fave really. I hated it and don't really like dissecting anything.) I may be leaving off a few things but these are what come to mind.

I’ve done.. fetal pig, frog (3x), crayfish (5x), worm (7x), sheep heart, cow brain, cow eye (maybe it was sheep), perch (2x) and a chicken. My favorite was the frogs of course.

I was supposed to do the cat but they didn’t have enough which was fine by me since we learned it was the euthanized cats from a shelter. :(

Ohhh nooo. That’s terrible. I’m so sorry Prairie! I agree, Benadryl and ice! A paste made of baking soda or crushed up aspirin can really help too.

For your back?
I sleep with a microwaveable heating pack most nights. Sometimes I don’t really need it, it just feels nice lol.

I have never heard of the baking soda or crushed aspirin trick. What do you mix it with? Water?

Wait what did she do to her back? I feel like I missed something :lau :hide

Heat does feel nice honestly!!

:lau x2

I don't know how bad it is in the rest of the country, but Washington is HORRIBLE in regards to homeless people. They practically encourage it here. It's completely insane. There are so many in Seattle that they've started moving into the Tacoma area. A bummer because Tacoma was/is really getting its act together. It's a nice little city... but now the bums have moved in.

That’s awful! Plymouth has tons but I never really see them. Boston has a lot in certain areas.

Yes. I was using a heating pad but switched to ice.
I'm almost back to normal.

Sorry about your back. :(

Glad it’s almost back to normal though.

Hadn’t heard of the baking soda trick. :)Thanks Tes! I’ll definitely keep it in my back pocket. I have a fairly high pain tolerance so it’s not too bad, but the swelling is lame.

Swelling definitely sucks!! Take some Benadryl!!

You should tell people that you saved a litter of kittens from being swarmed and took the brunt of the stings. Or maybe a baby. Either way, you saved something.

Puppies!
You saved puppies.

:lau

The baking soda is a life saver. It really takes the itch out too when that part starts.

Sounds amazing.

Puppies it is!

Yesssss.

Or puppies. Yes.

Puppies, kittens, small children, either works lmao and makes you look great for a vet school candidate. ;)

Itch? :barnie Ugh

Yes itch!! Lol

Boxer puppies.

:lau don’t wanna get too specific!! They may ask for a picture!!

Go cut your pretty nails off now.

:lau

I have to do it for micro anyways so I guess I better do it now. :hmm Booo

That sucks :(

I don't know that anywhere I've been is on the scale that you see there, but NOLA has a good many. We were in San Antonio last summer and I don't recall seeing any there. It was probably bc if where we stayed and visited. Baton Rouge has several as well but never around the areas I visit. Again I don't really go into the city much anyway and when I do it's for specific things with the kids usually. Haven't gone out in the city in over 10 years.

You haven’t been to the city in 10 years!? :ep

Just don't cut your hair off...you will feel naked trust me.

:lau I could never have short hair. Though yours wasn’t even short.

We have homeless under every freeway over pass. All 7568 of them.

:ep :th OMG!!! For real!?!?

Wait, what? :caf

Wait what what?

:lau now you’re both confusing me.

Never again! Done it once, and I couldn’t stand it

Good! LOL although we need pics of the short hair incident. ;)

It's worse than the pain, imo. I can't stand the itching.

Yes! The itching sucks! Once it starts healing and gets itchy it sucks lol

Sounds very interesting! I thought it meant the plantain that looks like a banana at first lol

Oooh thank you! I’ll look into this too

X2

We get to be third in the nation — only NYC, and LA have more. Terrible.

Oh wow that’s awful! Although I don’t remember seeing that many whenever I’ve been to New York haha

I know LA is bad though. I know I once saw a video of like a bike tour through the homeless encampment just outside of town. Actually kinda sad in a way. Especially since it was right next to town and all the famous people but most people would never know it was there.

Micro.. biology? You have to cut your nails? What what?

That sucks if so aha

Microbiology yeah. Apparently the professor doesn’t like long nails. :idunno Doesn’t make any sense to me

That seems kinda stupid and unfair haha

Oh. :gig
I’m still salty that I didn’t get into a micro class. Kinda messes up my degree plan. sigh.

Oh, I found out that I get to dissect a lamb and a pig in my animal nutrition class. I’m stoked.

Aw sorry! I’m sure you’ll still be able to get it on time though. Maybe they’ll have something over the summer or you could take an extra class next semester?

Oooohhh how fun!! Lol

I love dissections! I’m so jealous. :barnie I’ve done a fetal pig, is yours going to be a large pig?

Aw I’m sure you’ll get to do one eventually! Lol

The only thing I’ve ever dissected was a frog in 8th grade lol

I find Aveeno to be excellent for itch relief.

Very interesting. Didn’t know they made a cortisone lotion. Thanks.

I have some off brand stuff, it has the hydrocortisone.

I just buy the cortisone stuff, idk what brand haha not Aveeno though. Some other one.

Really? I didn't know that. I'll remember that!

Same.

I was thinking I did a brain too but wasn't sure. And I may have my eye and heart sources wrong. It's been a few years for me.
