➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

It’s not that I would enjoy it, I would just find it extremely interesting.
But I’m also the person who decapitates roadkill to harvest the skull, and dissects animals to figure out why they died. I get that not everyone is into that and I respect that. I have a select few people I share that stuff with (hubby, my MIL, you guys) and try to keep it on the down low haha.

Ohhh my gosh. I could. That would be incredible. Why haven’t I thought of this before?
The amount of animal abuse that you’d see would definitely get to your head, though.

Organic is harder than general chem, but more interesting. Just make charts of all the reactions and memorize the crap out of it.

I hate history. Easily my least favorite subject, by far.
I’m good with memorization, flash cards are my jam, so that’s a bit relieving. My math skills are very very veeery bad, too many kicks/hits/falls to the head, I used to be good at it. :idunno

I love history! It runs through my blood though, my dad is a huge history nerd. He also wanted to be a defense lawyer when he was young and be in politics. :sick

Also the forensic thing, I took a forensic class and I could not do the bugs. Dear goodness maggots made me almost puke in class. I know I’ll see them being a regular vet buuuut maybe it’ll cut it down a bit.
Blood and gore, analysis based work, research? Easy peasy. Throw me some maggots? I’m out.

Good thing he didn’t indeed or I (not my brother) would exist.

I like flash cards but that may be because of the SI leader (kind of like a course tutor) part of me now lol. Flash cards for everything!!! Make an interactive chart with flash cards. Flash cards to put in Venn diagrams, etc

Well good thing you both do then! Haha

Oh wow you really are into flash cards! Haha that’s awesome though.

Maybe you could get me to like them. :lau

Do you color code everything too? :lau :hide

So you gonna ditch the clinic idea and get into forensics? :lau
:idunno Who knows. I try not to worry that far into the future. I don’t know who I’ll meet or what doors will be opened in vet school.. hell, I didn’t even know forensic veterinary medicine was a thing until just now.
I just know that I like wildlife, pocket pets, and dead things.
I know I won’t be going into zoo or large animals.
@Tesumph I didn't judge! No worries. You don't strike me as a psycho. Just a curious mind and I can relate. Actually I can see my oldest daughter having similar interests to yours when she's older. She's soft hearted and compassionate but doesn't blink and eye when the lion kills the baby zebra on her nature shows she loves. When her little sister gets upset by it, she just goes "lions have to eat too sissy!"
I appreciate that! Hubby and I are very desensitized people, and have had some awkward moments with acquaintances. I try to stay sensitive to it, I have a hard enough time making friends without people knowing my weird pastimes.

Your daughter sounds like a kindred spirit! I’ve never been bothered by dead animals, or even the idea of euthanizing them myself.
What really bothers me is watching them suffer. At a certain point, death is the best gift you can give to an animal who doesn’t know any better.

Ugh. I admit that I have a phobia of maggots.
Not my fault... childhood trauma. It’s a gross story.
All of the skull cleaning I’ve done has been with ants, beetles, or just boiling water.

Owning a bearded dragon has helped, actually. Her staple is soldier fly larva, hah!

I agree 100%. Inwas never bothered by euthanasia either. Have euthanized my fair share of animals. However I did have a problem with it when I didn't think it was necessary. Example : my dad died and his old dog is sad now. Bull crap! Also, we had a pound here in town at the time. They did not rescue or treat animals. They did not promote the adoption of the animals. They held them for two weeks max in whatever condition they were in (mange, etc.) if they weren't claimed in that time frame they were euthanized. I live in a very small town and we've come A LONG way since then. But when we would line up bodies of dogs that were never given a chance, there were days I refused to participate. It really pissed me off.
