➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

:idunno Who knows. I try not to worry that far into the future. I don’t know who I’ll meet or what doors will be opened in vet school.. hell, I didn’t even know forensic veterinary medicine was a thing until just now.
I just know that I like wildlife, pocket pets, and dead things.
I know I won’t be going into zoo or large animals.

I appreciate that! Hubby and I are very desensitized people, and have had some awkward moments with acquaintances. I try to stay sensitive to it, I have a hard enough time making friends without people knowing my weird pastimes.

Your daughter sounds like a kindred spirit! I’ve never been bothered by dead animals, or even the idea of euthanizing them myself.
What really bothers me is watching them suffer. At a certain point, death is the best gift you can give to an animal who doesn’t know any better.

That makes sense!! Sounds like a good plan actually. Probably good to not have your heart too set on something cause you never know what other opportunities will come up!!

And I totally agree!!

Ugh. I admit that I have a phobia of maggots.
Not my fault... childhood trauma. It’s a gross story.
All of the skull cleaning I’ve done has been with ants, beetles, or just boiling water.

Owning a bearded dragon has helped, actually. Her staple is soldier fly larva, hah!

Aw sorry. :(

That’s good she’s helping though ha

I agree 100%. Inwas never bothered by euthanasia either. Have euthanized my fair share of animals. However I did have a problem with it when I didn't think it was necessary. Example : my dad died and his old dog is sad now. Bull crap! Also, we had a pound here in town at the time. They did not rescue or treat animals. They did not promote the adoption of the animals. They held them for two weeks max in whatever condition they were in (mange, etc.) if they weren't claimed in that time frame they were euthanized. I live in a very small town and we've come A LONG way since then. But when we would line up bodies of dogs that were never given a chance, there were days I refused to participate. It really pissed me off.

I do think animals can get sad or depressed when family members (human or even other animals) pass away but I don’t think it’s any reason to euthanize them for it!! Usually they get over it eventually. Reminds me of the family who dropped of their dog at a shelter cause she was “depressed” and “wouldn’t play anymore” cause their other dog had died then had the nerve to come back to the shelter the same day and try to adopt a puppy/new dog!! And walked right by her yard and were petting her and saying hi!! She got so excited when she saw them but were they there to claim her? NO! Just rile her up and get her all excited and happy and hopeful for nothing then walk away! They weren’t there for her, oh no, they were there for a new puppy.:barnie:mad:true scum if ya ask me! :duc But thankfully the rescue, of course, turned these idiots down and the dog found a new home!

And OMG wow that is so awful and cruel! :hit

@KDOGG331 im not saying they don't get sad. Just that that's not an excuse to euthanize.

And yeah, those people should be ashamed for that.

Ah okay. Sorry. I thought that’s what you meant but then I wasn’t sure if the bull was bull they don’t get sad or bull reason to euthanize lol figured it was the last one but I’m way too tired right now. :lau

Yeah, it was awful. :hit there’s video of the dog meeting them too :hit

I've dissected a fetal pig, nurse shark, frog, crawfish, worm, cow heart, sheep eye and my personal fave... A KITTY CAT! (Actually two cats! And not my fave really. I hated it and don't really like dissecting anything.) I may be leaving off a few things but these are what come to mind.
it helps if you call it reverse engineering instead of disection. Example " we reverse engineered 2 cats today". See not that bad
