➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

just like the other person you matter, your time is valuable and if you feel you are right speak up stand your ground. The other person is NOT always right and you are NOT always wrong.

Thank you, this is helpful and I definitely need to work on it. I think it’s also sometimes harder in a school or even work setting cause people don’t wanna go against their professor or boss or whatever and/or don’t think they could possibly be wrong but I guess anybody could be wrong.

I think it goes a bit deeper for me though cause I also have a huge problem telling people no when I need to and frequently get roped into things I don’t want to do and/or walked all over by “friends” because of it.

Severe thunderstorm watch currently. Been under watch for a couple hours already but storm really only started coming in maybe an hour ago with sprinkling off and on and yellow sky so still hasn’t fully hit yet. Wind has been picking up since late afternoon.

Oh wow! I bet that's very bitter sweet seeing your son make that choice. I've got career military family, only a few members, but it had served them well. One is army and is actually retired now I believe, then his son is air force and is doing quite well. I also have a friend that's army reserve. She works very hard putting in a lot of time and has seen much of the world through her military career. She LOVES her military life. Hopefully your son will love it and prosper like they have. He sounds like a brave kid.

It definitely is. We (my hubby nor I) don't really have a lot of military members in our families. I have a distant cousin that was in the Marines. Not sure if he still is. Haven't seen nor talked to him since I was a young kid. Other than that, you really have to go a ways back, well before my time. But he wants to join for the right reason. He feels a personal patriotic duty. He's wanted in the military since he was like 5yrs old. I think some people just have a calling for it. He is leaning Navy. He got an A.S. and an A.A.S. in Paralegal studies and was originally thinking about going in to law. Maybe JAG. But he is also thinking about a different field altogether which is the nuclear program. If he qualifies for the nuclear program after taking the ASVAB then that is what he wants to do. If not, he is thinking of joining the Army because he can (if the job is available) enter directly in to a paralegal program through them, whereas he wouldn't be able to via the Navy because he'd have to serve a certain amount of time and get to a certain class level first. So going officer/administrative route. If that makes sense. I'm learning as I go along because I know zilch.

I don't know much about it either other than it has been a great life for a few I know. I think the key is going in with a clear idea of what you want out of it and it sounds like he's definitely got that down. Hopefully he'll smoke that ASVAB and have the career of his dreams! And it sounds like even if he doesn't he's got an awesome plan B. You should be very proud!

X2!!! That’s awesome he’s so sure of what he wants to do. Not many are.

And also turns out the “severe” storm wasn’t even severe at all. We barely got any rain or thunder or anything and definitely no hail and it’s already passed through and calmed down. Has been for a little while actually. Idk why I listen to those things.

Although that said sometimes they have been accurate! The one a few times ago was. So you never know haha also, I think usually it is far more severe further inland (to the west) as well as to the south of us. So they probably got hit with most of it.

There's only so much they can predict. We've been caught out in severe weather on a day with a zero % chance and had no snow at all from a system they had said would yield 6+". They try, though, which I appreciate because I would rather be prepared when the chances are high.

Here short range predictions are pretty accurate. All they have to do is to see which direction the wind is blowing and look at the weather that is happening upwind. Long range forecast doesn't work out so well.

Hmm that’s true. I just always freak out and then often it’s nothing haha although usually they’re pretty accurate. But not always. Like in that case aha

Sounds easy enough! Haha
