➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Garden was cold and wet and then hot and dry. Garlic and onion were okay. Cukes are dieing , tomatoes are dieing muskmelon look ok.. even squash aren't doing well
Sorry to hear that. The squash had a severe case of squash vine borer. The chickens were very happy to help me get rid of the problems, but I killed the squash trying to cure them. The fruit that did start dropped off.

Decent season for cukes. Tomatoes just did NOT make. Even the ones I watered. Pitiful year. Second season for mild peppers show promise. The single surviving jalepeno just started setting fruit. I'm watering it more than the first ones.

Was going to do fall peas, but didn't.

kills, no. dampens, yes. i'm not the right person to ask. fried my taste buds a long time ago. apparently, my heat receptors are on the upper end of most everyone else. I'll eat pickled jalapenos like potato chips with sandwiches. I've been assured they are hot.

Chinese mustard and horseradish still clean my clock. Great cure for stuffiness from head colds. I recommend it.

 you eat jalapeños straight!? :th

And thanks, I’ll have to try that some time haha

I think I found the perfect places... if only I had more money lol

And actually, not really quite perfect, I’d want way more land and no HOA but still.

Tbh I think I’m mostly just in love with the pool (and tennis court) and kitchen in the second one. :love and how CLEAN and junk free the second one is :lau

Also that second one would probably be well over a million here or maybe two and way less land haha

I grew "cherry bombs" one year when I found the plants at the co-op in Maple Plain, MN. Best peppers ever.

I've been trying to repeat the magic here without success. They were a thick-walled pimento type of pepper with the sweet of a bell and the heat of a jalapeno.

I've grown several other pimentos, even some that were described in the same way, but haven't had the results I had in MN. Maybe it's a cooler summer that's a required element for achieving the complexity of flavor?

It is more likely a different soil chemistry causing the difference.

I have a problem with pickled peppers. They just don't taste right. The fresh taste is more tantalizing. More depth. And the cooking kills the hot.

Did the pequins grow at the horse barn this summer? As dry as it was, I had trouble with the garden.
Those pequins were at the old horse barn.
I haven't been by to visit the old place in a while.

Pickled jalapenos are mild compared to fresh jalapenos.

That is good to know. Thanks.

Those sound amazing!!

I think I found them online but it appears they’ve been discontinued. :hit

That makes sense.

You should! Then you can steal peppers and eggs. :lau

Pickled jalapenos are no where near hot.

Ahh okay. That makes sense then. But still haha

Just saw this and thought it was hilarious. Especially the last paragraph. (Third pic) :lau
