➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

They get a darker olive by backcrossing their F1s to their dark egg bird. They then get about 50/50 darker olive/dark brown. Obviously, that requires that the dark egg genes were there to begin with but this is how it's supposed to go and what a lot of those working on olive strive for.

If, OTOH, you breed F1 to F1, that creates F2s. There's naturally going to be more variability there since you're mixing already mixed birds.

@debid i feel so shame that I missed that you just told me what "backcrossing" was :he I'm sorry. I tried to be listening. I swear it!

Now you have me wanting to make it even more cause this looks delicious haha are you making it tonight too? Or already made it I guess? Is that yours in the pic? Wow you eat early  :th
I just made it.
I cook early so that way the Mex can take some to work with him. He works nights.

Seems like it would be.

I think I am going to possibly add some carrots and/or spinach to mine haha
I used spinach instead of kale because that's what I had.
I actuay timed how long it took...start to finish just for you.
And it probably took a few minutes longer because I had the mini peeling the sweet potatoes.
He is slow.

30 minutes total.

And throw in a couple chopped, tart apples!
This little magazine came in the mail from my grocery store.
I tried to stick to the recipe but if I make it again I will add more stuff to it.
Apples sounds good.

I rarely use a recipe for anything but inspiration. I make a lot of meals based on whatever was on special at the store or what in the fridge needs to get used up. You'd never know how horribly disorganized it all is by the finished product, though.
:gig
I'm like this too.
