I have a silly question.. google isn’t helping.
I just opened a brand new gallon of Arizona sweet tea and took a big gulp before I realized it was rancid. Almost tasted like ginger beer, or alcoholic or something.
The plastic lid seal wasn’t broken, but it had air in the top instead of being a vacuumed seal. I should’ve poured it out as soon as I saw that.

For those that preserve stuff, is this a thing that can happen with improperly sealed liquid? Or did I just poison myself lol.
I had this happen with a gallon of cider once. Sealed plastic jug. Pretty sure they either failed with their pasteurization or they didn't have their filling equipment santized. I took it back to the store and the clerk said they'd had some explode on the shelf, it must have been a bad batch.

The big thing people worry about is botulism but tea beverages are too acidic for that to be a concern.

It’s like $2.50 for a gallon of green tea and honey.
I don’t got time to make a gallon of green tea and honey!
I make sun tea. Tea bags and water, stick the jug outside for a couple hours and let it happen. Of course, it isn't sweet. I don't like sweet tea so no biggie for me but there's dehydrated honey powder that you could mix in to taste. No corn syrup, then, and the antioxidants would be intact (a problem for anything that has to be heat pasteurized). I know, buying a jug is easier. But, it's really no better than soda.

I was parched from working in the garage.
I have a weird neurological thing where I sometimes smell nasty things that aren’t there. It’s almost never actually a real smell.. except when it is.

Even though Arizona teas are not refrigerated?
Glass bottles are better but that Arizona garbage is just so darn cheap.

Tea bags are cheaper.
You beat me to it!

Make a quart.
Put a tea bag and 2 cups of water in a 4 cup measuring cup Set your microwave for 3 minutes .....while you brush your teeth or put on your makeup. Then remove the tea bag, add two cups of ice to melt and cool down. Add your honey. Pour into a thermos or covered pitcher. Refrigerate.

Aaand this is why I don’t talk about my diet around y’all. :gig

Ok, fine. Is there better brands of tea bags than others or is it all the same stuff?

That makes sense then! I usually just drink water although I do sometimes drink like those electrolyte/sports drinks, there’s this one, Body Armor that’s made with coconut water and it’s really good lol all sorts of good flavors. I think it’s better than Gatorade but it’s probably not. :lau or the powder mixes lol or I’ve been making tea but usually water haha or juice rarely.

And huh, that’s fascinating haha although it must suck for you. :( :hugs

And I love Arizona! It’s the best! I love the 99 cent cans :love I think the half & half (Arnold Palmer) and sweet tea or watermelon are my faves LOL

I’d wear the crap out of these, but that price tag made me throw up in my mouth.

X2 LOL

Tea bags are cheaper.

:lau true!

I’ve been making myself green tea like every day the last few days. Today I only had one cup but before that I had like 3 cups a day for 2 days LOL

Although I think the caffeine might be messing with my stomach and/or body in general lol. Idk. I keep getting all these weird pains random places around my abdomen I never had before the tea lol and also lately I’ve been like getting weak/shakey/lightheaded in the shower. Happened twice so far. Today and then a few days ago. The first time I thought it was blood sugar and downed juice and ate an actual meal and felt better so thought that must be it till I felt really weird again only a couple hours later when I got shakey lol so shouldn’t have been sugar. Drank tea and was fine. Today I was odd too. At least not shakey lol but had the shower thing again but not as bad as the first time. And worse pain than usual/in more locations which was odd and still in pain lol but it’s really dull now so I can’t notice it unless I move weird or something haha idek if it’s the caffeine or a sore muscle or what haha

I can tell the difference between some teas. Generic tea is more dusty. Perhaps they clean out the bottom of the hopper to fill those bags? But the difference between a mid range and an expensive one? Meh, not so much. But, I'm not a tea snob. There are some who would tell you that you must buy loose leaf. We used to have a coach who was legit British and I kept my tea thoughts to myself around her.
